Quadratschulz returns to Clone / Dub Recordings with a sonic ode to Tokyo—six beautifully crafted tracks inspired by the neon-lit nights and electric pulse of the city.

Drawing from the spirit of Japanese electronics, arcade culture, and city pop nostalgia, he blends crisp rhythms with emotive melodies and playful synth work. It’s a journey through dreamy downtowns and rain-soaked alleyways, full of warmth, precision, and imagination.

Of course, Japanese electronics play a key role—led by the unmistakable playful sound of the Roland TB-303 weaving through the tracks like a main character.

Machine Cult — the Amsterdam-based electronic platform run by Déandrah and Garçon Taupe — returns with the Edition Four release party at OT301 on 7 November.

The new V.A. compilation features tracks from Garçon Taupe, Bertram, 2:29, Beau Wanzer, Déandrah, and Masha Wordpress. At the launch, all contributing artists will play DJ sets, with Déandrah providing live visuals throughout the night.

Expect an evening of potent electronics and immersive visuals, celebrating the forefront of the underground.

Every motion leaves an echo.
A delay so small it feels like memory,
folding back into what made it.

Some parts of us cancel out — out of phase, out of step —
while others ring louder,
resonant at their point of friction.

The closer we listen,
the more we hear the shape of time itself:
not in repetition, but in resistance.

Turn the gain high enough,
and every system sings its own name.

Nothing moves forward without delay.
Every signal returns amended,
shifted by experience.

What we call resonance
is simply agreement through distortion —
a frequency where return and loss sound the same.

Civilization, too, is a filter:
attenuation at the edges,
a boost where the noise gathers.

Push the circuit far enough,
and even silence begins to oscillate —
slightly altered, slightly late.

The self is a comb filter —
a body made of delays and reflections.

What we say
returns a few milliseconds later.
At low frequencies, we disappear;
near our cut-offs, we bloom.

Maybe living
is just tuning the loop
until it almost sings itself apart,
but not quite — building toward a new start.

XCI, DJ and Producer from Lisbon. Disruptive figure who embraces visceral music such as Electro, industrial, EBM, bass music and slow rave as the key traits of his personality as a DJ.

The most striking aspect of his approach to DJing is the rawness with which he imagines connections and the unpredictability with which he brings them to life. He finds fluidity by avoiding patterns, provoking abrupt clashes, and taking risks with unconventional rhythms.

Carving out a fierce reputation across labels like Downwards, Opal Tapes, iDEAL Recordings and DKA Records. Christian Donaghey’s relentless live show has seen him tour worldwide alongside Veronica Vasicka, Silent Servant, and Wire, delivering workouts that pummel those lower frequencies into submission.

 
Now, as he joins Ransom Note with the ferocious EP ‘Through the Construction of Grace’ EP, the “lanky, ginger man from Derry” offers up a mix that captures his intuitive approach to music-making. Recorded in his bedroom, it’s a journey through the sounds that have shaped Autumns’ “awful attempts at ripping off every bit of music that I like” from DJ Hell & Alan Vega collaborations to deep Post-Punk in Dub territory.

It’s confusing, distorted vocals and atonal blasts that taste like marmalade, and moves with the scrappy resourcefulness of a raccoon.

Worry less. Listen intuitively.

A long-time resident of @freerotation and one of the minds behind the beloved label UntilMyHeartStops, Joe has spent years shaping a musical world rooted in sensitivity, depth, and emotional nuance.
His curatorial vision continues through Lamassu, where he explores the outer edges of dance music with the same careful devotion.

Regular readers of tQ might remember that our friends at MUTEK helpfully had someone handy with a tape recorder to capture Factory Floor's comeback set at the 2024 edition of the festival. Well, we're happy to report that they've done done the same again, this time with one of our favourite collaborative duos – James Holden and Wacław Zimpel. The intense, beautiful and burbling set, with modular synths and saxophone dancing in all the bright ecstasy of a winter mountain stream, can be listened to on our Soundcloud below.  " i remember i really enjoyed this one, it was the first show we'd had for a little while and felt quite flowy, a nice connected feeling," reflected James Holden, and his musical partner agrees: "I really loved it," Wacław Zimpel says, "it's always quite amazing to play again after longer break. Breaks gives a room for new ideas to grow spontaneously." They both praise preceding sets by Yu Su and Valentina Magaletti for setting "a great vibe at the venue," as Zimpeł puts it. It came on top of a fine stay in Montreal for the festival. "We immersed ourselves in the local cuisine – poutine – and then climbed the big hill. at the top a guy with a fluorescent cargo bike and a poodle in (also fluorescent) ankle warmers turned up, pumping 90s house out of a Bluetooth speaker. We felt like we'd completed Canada, achievement unlocked."
