Javier Busto is a veteran, charismatic, and beloved-by-all Madrid-based DJ and producer whose trademark sonority is characterized by a seamless concoction of the many influences he has amassed since the beginning of his music career in 1988. He has been having a busy year with three releases so far on Espacio Cielo, Emerald & Doreen, and now ESTHÉTIQUE. 

His “Into The Darkness” brings beefy remixes by Australian Stockholm Syndrome, Spanish Ivan De La Rouch, and Turkish Fat&Bald. The different interpretations, combined, deliver a powerful and vital release for the fans out there of the so-called Dark Disco/Indie Dance scene.

The remix we were given to review/premiere was cooked with love by Ankara-based artist Ortac Genc, the mastermind behind the project Fat&Bald. His interpretation took the original into a more cosmic electro territory infused with some Rock and EBM elements. The outcome showcases, one more time, the affluence of production skills and resources Ortac pours into his works and is definitely a must-have.

PREMIERE179 // Javier Busto - Into The Darkness (Fat&Bald Remix)

Metge (@metgemusic) is the musical project, where hardware, software and samples are mixed together to create melancholic, narcotic and cinematic environments.

From the combination of experience and vision, in Metge they find their balance, through a feeling made music. Closer, in collaboration with the Australian vocalists JEM, is the debut on Chromatic Club (@chromaticclub) that points to a sound full of cinematographic influences, until finding a set that is a progression of chords that are like serotonin bombs, also testimony of a complex era, which seeks redemption at all costs.

The album is made up of two tracks: Closer and Acidlife, and they are presented as a romantic ode to eclecticism, which is sustained in strange and elusive terrain, but that is where this singular producer achieves his final goal: to sound new without being new, to sound Old without looking like it, masterfully alternating each genre and leaving the labyrinth knowing that, whether it has been forward or backward, the journey has been worth it.

Few producers know how to play their cards as well as he does, scoring an EP that calls into question the rules of the genre, building a timeless set, to which we will go over time trying to decipher that magical and complex mechanism that manages to transcend all expectations.

Glasgow-based producer BTCOP is back to Evil Plans, peeps! A regular on Nein Records and with solid originals and remixes released on Emerald & Doreen, Roam, and Tici Taci, this lad has been drawing lots of attention within the so-called Dark Disco/Indie Dance scene with his competent production skills and sharp creativity.

For his forthcoming “Sea Dogs”, BTCOP decided to fly solo bringing to life four obscure and groovy original cuts, varying from atmospheric cosmic Balearic to hypnotic early-days-of-rave infused vibes. Although remixes and collaborations are generally welcome to enhance a release, on this particular occasion they are not necessarily missed since the EP works as a true showcase of BT’s proper artistry and ingenuity. Maybe in the future a “Sea Dog – The Remixes” is something the label would be interested in making happen.

The title track – the chosen one to be reviewed/premiered – with its beautiful chant-like vocals is a trippy and mesmerising theme that combines danceability to trance and delivers the feelings and sensations that only a good track is capable of. Dance to it on a packed and sweaty dancefloor with the eyes closed must be the ultimate experience. If only we could…

Logia Records continues to stomp on the scene, this time with a great release.

"DELLA - Modern Life EP", a release by the Argentine based in Barcelona, ​​Juan Francisco Ponte Della Giustina (DELLA). Two very powerful originals, “On The Phone (Original Mix)” with Electro sounds and a Rave Disco base, and “Traffic (Original Mix)”, a track with a robust bass typical of the Dark Disco.

According to DELLA, "Modern Life invites you to experience the confusion of being absorbed in a parallel reality that strafers information or stuck in traffic rushing to get anywhere."

The EP has great remixers, such as Antic, with its more sober version of “On the Phone” typical of a UK Rave, the Argentine duo RENUNA contributes its version of the same track, but with Electro base, created for the dance floor .

"Traffic" is remixed by 3 great artists too; Stockholm Syndrome brings its version marked by Slow Techno, and Indie tints. The remix of the Mexican Leonor also has a Techno proposal, in this case more spatial, and completes the Badwolf release, also from Mexico, with its version with some melodic sounds but based on the Dark Disco.

2021 seems to have no rest for Logia Records, their second release of the year brings us the Mexican Mad Slow and his EP “Ánimas Trujano”.
An EP marked by the indie and techno of its originals, accompanied by remixes that open it up to other places.
The duo COMETRAN (made up of Veltran and Comegatos) proposes a remix of “Trujano” , more indie, with hints of dark-disco, ideal for the first hours on the dance floor.
To impose the Logia seal, they complete the EP Cu da Curuxa and Cali Burton, members of the growing label. Cu da Curuxa performing a slightly more techno and darker version of “Ánimas”, and Cali with a harder and more rocky remix of “Trujano”, so that no one remains seated.

Relish Compilation VII features tracks and remixes by AHEADACHEADAY, ELIEZER w/ Zillas on Acid and Dangur, M Love, Headman, Mufti feat. Vongold, Franz & Shape and Modular Project.

The Compilation starts off with Alberto de Angeli aka AHEADACHEADAY. A dark slow motion synth laden track with Burundi beat undertones. 
Tel Aviv’s Eliezer collaborated w/ Zillas on Acid on Anna Bella. The vocals are by Isadora. The song is trippy, hypnotic and percussive.
M Love’s Price is his 3rd release on Relish. New World was featured on REPIX. New Wave and Krautrock infused techno for the momentarily absent dancefloors.This time a bit harder and less melodic. Devoleb is a new Headman track. The original idea was to rework an old track, but while working on it something new came out. The track is an example of Post Punk Disco, 808 drummachines and Basslines that reminds one of Motorik retro futurist funk. Crimson is by Eliezer and Dangur with again vocals from Isadora. This version is a bit more uptempo, again with a tribal nearly ethnic feel with guitars and percussion that slide in and out dubbing everything. Mufti feat Vongold contributed already on REPXI. False Guru has a similar  Mexican underground vibe, dark arpeggio synths, driving drums and  mystic vocals by Vongold.
Headman’s Be Loved original version was released in 2011. First remixed by Daniel Avery on the homonymous single. Modular Project remixed the version again and turned it into a high energy dark Giorgio Moroder-esque interpretation keeping loads of sounds and the poppy vocals from the original. Franz & Shape who have been part of Relish since the early days contributed N.u.m.b.. The vocals are by Matt Southall from the UK band Officers. The remix is by Croatian electronica producer Petar Dundov. He added vocoders and gave a nice retro-italo feel to the original version.
