Exclusive: Kayroy - Jetty Lay

For Echocentric Records' 12th catalogue number, Internal Rhythm, label-head Timo Deeprhythms invited Australian Marmelade boy Kayroy, who delivers a diversified four tracker. "The World’s #1 superstar deejay" seems to be an equally gifted producer taking the listener on an easy ride through his sound-cosmos. While the A1 and A2, Internal Rhythm respectively Zap Saffron have a slightly proggy touch, Kayroy gives his preference for Acid-bleeps with Jetty Lay full scope and employs latter elements to create a razor-sharp (Acid)line that turns Jetty Lay into a magical space-trip into the unknown. The disco-esque appearing bass line as well as spheric pad sequences round off the homogenous sound selection from the Melbourne-based producer and provide the track a bleepy deepness.

Kayroy's EP Internal Rhythm will be released on Echocentric Records on April 22nd, 2022.

SJT’s skilful use of mind melting background tape textures and moody pads provide the encapsulating canvas for otherworldly acid lines, driving hardware percussion and enlightening melodies. An ep primed to transcend the listener to a place of communal acidic dance appreciation.

The day had finally arrived; a succession of thick red crosses on the calendar above his desk marked the lead up. He studied himself in the mirror, smoothing out the creases in his shirt and fixing his tie with a precise flick of the wrist. As if reading from an imaginary prompt, he reeled off his presentation to his reflection one last time, each word and phrase delivered with eloquence and poise. He knew it all off by heart but he still worried about stumbling on the night; there was so much at stake. It all depended on the outcome of today; his future hung in the balance...

After starting life last summer with a release from Istanbul-based producer Rnbws, London imprint Linale Records share their second EP with the world, which sees them digging into the past, mining for 90s gold. Previous only released on CD back in '97, the two tracks on Digital Rubber are the work of three Australian producers: Andy Rantzen and Paul McDermott (also known as Itch-e and Scratch-e) and Anthony Maher (Sheriff Lindo), under the guise of Boo Boo, Mace and Nutcase. An infectious fusion of electro and breakbeat, wrapped up in dreamy ambience, the originals come complete with a brand new remix of the title track from fellow Australian Rudolf C.

An EP of limbo-inducing squelch courtesy of our good friends Latrec aka Andy Bainbridge and Serious Hots, ft. techno flavoured remixes from Bristolian pal Remotif & our very own Matt Cowell & Johnny Aux as The W.C. Enjoy.

In the furthest reaches of the cosmos, the intergalactic community gathers for the annual Kutika Limbo finals. Reigning champion Latrec draws the first straw and the percussion rolls excitedly as he steps up to the pole.

Kutika glides lithely under the bar, tentacles wobbling to the acid rhythm. He celebrates his victory as the crowd chants in a glitchy alien dialect. “Kutika-tika-tika-tika!”

Second in line, Latrec’s younger brother Dub Mix steps up for his first limbo. Shorter and stockier than his brother, we don’t know what to expect from this one. Once again the percussion rolls, the crowd gasps as his squidgy exoskeleton melts before their eyes, reforming on the other side of the bar - ‘blooooop’. The crowd goes wild “Kut-Kut!”

Next up is The W.C. Events take a strange turn as they forgo the competition, instead they walk to the stage to sweep the band aside, hijacking control of the instruments. Heavy percussive hits twist spacetime with material melting bass throbs. The crowd goes wild as the fabric of reality collapses around them.

Last but by no means least is Remotif, a techno unit resembling a giant cluster of biceps stands staring at the limbo pole, chaos erupting around him. The tempo of the percussion rises in anticipation and acid thunder roars in the background. Remotif picks up the bar, blinks, and hurls it off into the furthest reaches of the galaxy never to be seen again.

He had the skills, that much was clear. As he walked through the door everybody would look and stare as he meandered slowly through the diner with a kind of swagger not typically associated with your average street cat. He’d worked hard to earn his respect in the street – hustling hard wasn’t easy as the underdog.

However, that didn’t mean that there weren’t some pesky type characters who might never seen him for more than the high tech low life he really was.

As the music played loud he’d wave and smile from time to time at the passers by gazed and glanced at his meticulous demeanour and banging persona.
