Episode 19 is dedicated to Sci Fi Electro series, where each artist has created a 15 minute track per side (2 tracks in total), taking you from pure electro tracks to very experimental compositions, sounds and atmospheres. The series is a collection of seven releases inspired by the following films created in the 20th century: THX 1138, 2001 A Space Odyssey, Blade Runner, The Thing, Akira, Terminator and Tron. 
You will listen interpretations inspired by movies: THX 1138 (by Transpac) and Blade Runner (by Scape One). This is our tribute as well to the talented Greek electronic music artist - Vangelis (RIP), who has written music for Blade Runner movie. Tracks have been released only in vinyl format (Electro Records). Enjoy and thanks for listening !

Electro Boogie (episode 19: Tribute to THX 1138 & Blade Runner by Transpac and Scape One)

We are delighted to welcome ADJ back with his new live set with unreleased and forthcoming stuff after his acclaimed DJ set as part of our podcast series.

Which artists has influenced you the most? 

- It's really hard to say one artist who has influenced me the most as I've been playing for nearly 40 years and producing for 30 years so I will name a few of the biggest, not just for the music but the whole ethos.
My first influences in the 80's were people like RYUICHI SAKAMOTO, KRAFTWERK, GEORGE CLINTON, HASHIM, JAMES BROWN, UNKNOWN DJ, CYBOTRON/MODEL 500, a real mixture of funk and electro/hip hop. Then into the 90's definetly MIKE BANKS/UR for his/their whole ethos of faceless artists and djs who were not interested in fame but more about just spreading the sounds of the streets and underground parties.  
And artists like WEE DJS, CARL FINLOW, BITSTREAM/ADAPTA, BEN MILSTEIN, BOLA, PLAID, KHAN/AIR LIQUIDE Crew, PHOENICIA, SI BEGG, ANDREA PARKER.

What new projects/releases with your participation are expected in the near future?

- So as always there are lots of projects ongoing and recent stuff like my Renegade Transmission vinyl ep just released on SERENITY IN KEOS, our latest Pyramid Transmissions releases Alien Transmissions Vol 3 and J FRANK album this month.
I have just finished 2 remixes, one for PAUL HEIROPHANT for release on vinyl and one for Potential Differense due for release digitally and remixed one of my favourite artists in ADRIEN D'ELZIUS recently.
In Jan/Feb 24 the next release on PT will be the long awaited 2nd ADJ/PATHIC release on vinyl and in December I will re release my Bass, Blips and Other Dimensions LP with extra new tracks. This album was released nearly 15 years ago on PIP WILLIAMS' Shameless Toady label. I feel the IDM/Electro sound of the album was a bit out of it's time so I think it's time to let a new generation hear it. There is a whole lot more coming in '24 so keep your ears open and this live set gives a glimpse of some of my recent work, finished and unfinished!

Which artists/labels is more relevant to you now?

- I think there are a lot of great artists now, although you have to sort through a ton of generic music to find them. Artists like FLECK ESC, ISOLATED MATERIAL, CTRLS, SIGMA ALGEBRA, LECTRO COD E, J FRANK, ROEL FUNCKEN, SYRTE, BEN PEST, ADRIEN D'ELZIUS, HEXALYNE, GAMMA INTEL, HATCH, ERRORBEAUTY, POLADROID are all doing some really FRESH sounds and there are so many more great new and established artists out there doing amazing, forward thinking stuff. There's lots of labels releasing Dope material like SCIENCE CULT, WOODWORK, ANALOGICAL FORCE, MIND CONTROLLED RECTIFIER, ARKADA, PATTERNED MEDIA, MECHATRONICA our own PYRAMID TRANSMISSIONS to name a few. 

What inspires you now to create music?

- I suppose same as always man, my music is my rebellion to the main stream and the system, a lot of new people in the scene don't understand this yet, back in the day we had to fight to get this music heard, illegal raves, pirate radio stations, getting chased by police just to get this music out there, I still feel that street edge in everything I do.

What set-up do you use when creating music?

- My studio nowadays is a mixture of some of my old analogue loves 808, 303, Teisco 110f monster synth (1979 made by ARP) and some newer pieces like Elektron Digitakt, Analogue Overdrive and Korg Monotron delay. I also use VST's for more synth and sound effects.
I really like to change things up, like some trax will have Digitakt/808 or Battery Drums/Digitakt or 808 and VST Drum synths etc. This way the beats always sound different for each track and the sounds are always fresh (I hope). I think variety is the spice of life, i make many styles and never try to sound like anyone else. That is most important to me, having my own style and sound, no matter what sounds i'm making.

Clocking in the series for the week is Chino! The multi-talented artist is a music producer, live act, and graphics designer. He is a co-founder of the lauded Krakow-based Radar collective and is part of the music production and audio-visual performance duo Radiation 30376 together with Olivia. His latest release 'Common Odditty' on the Afra-run Pinkman sub-label, Mindri, adds to a list of solo releases on labels such as Uncanny Valley, shtum, and others. It's been a period of touring with shows across Europe's premier parties and a new set of upcoming releases over the next few months. Lock in for an hour of back-to-back left field bangers!

De La Chasse is a 40-year-old DJ based in the west of France. He got into Electro music roughly 20 years ago after discovering bands like Drexciya and Mandroid. Since then he has made it his duty as a DJ (for the last 15 years) to broadcast the under-represented styles within Electronic music like Minimal Wave, EBM, and Electro. Basement Maxx fell in love with electro at a newly opened Fold in London, being soundtracked by Egyptian Lover and Radioactiveman live sets. He was 19 at the time and lucky to be let in, but this has since sparked a passion for the strange, often humorous, but always danceable sides of electronic music. He's gone on to play a host intimate venues across London, running parties under the brand Top Thwomps and holding a residency on internet radio station Komrad. More recently, his record bag has also followed him to the booths of E1, Phonox and Fabric as well as clubs around Sofia for three Synaesthesia Collective shows (where he  warmed up the floor for Arkada boss Errorbeauty at Kupe.
