https://soundcloud.com/joemorris returns to his own Shades Of Sound imprint with the Pacific Dream EP, comprising four original shimmering tracks that channel the heat, light and humidity of peak summer months. The lead track 'Pacific Dream (Energy Mix)' is a classic deep house workout. Organic keys and heady synths combine over an irresistible rolling 909 drum groove. On the 'Sunset Mix' the pace cools down, space is given to the soaring synths and gentle hand drums assist the languid tone to melt away over the horizon. 'New Generation' is modern balearica at it's best; a mid tempo groove cut to emotive pads and fluttering 303's. 'Island People' rounds off the EP in similar emotive fashion with a relaxed, breezy atmosphere drifting through its lazy beats and melancholic strings.

Maltese producer Melchior Sultana's sumptuous 'Self Reflection' is one of the best house albums in ages, brimming with delicious melody and deep moods. 'Module' is one of my favourites, propelled by a Mr. Fingersy bass throb and a punchy deep techno rhythm, it's awash with hazy synths, lush melody and trippy automation. Excellent.

Even though Mad Mats and Tooli runs a 'house label' we hope our various influences from other musical genres shine through the label's vast catalog. One strong influence on Local Talk is of course jazz, in any shape or form. So on our new '-ish' compilation series we thought we begin here...Jazz-ish.

The compilation is full of personal favorite jams from Local Talk. But some tracks stand out a little extra. Kai Alce's melodic remix of Munk is a personal fave and a true beauty, Kaidi Tatham's mix of Coflo is proper UK jazz-fusion boogie (ish.), Dean Zepherin's 'Blue Moon' is a classy jazz-funk number and Ron Trent's remix of Kyoto Jazz Sextet is as deep-jazz as it gets.
