Living legend Alton Miller @altonmillermusic joins the Italian label Roots Underground @rootsundergroundrecords for its 8th vinyl release, keeping the usual trademark sound that forged his legend for the past 30 years! 

The EP "From the Future" is opened with "Crossing", a hypnotic, rhythmic track of over 9 minutes wrapped in a deep atmosphere. The break leads to a really warm trip and the overall track demonstrates the dancefloor side of this prolific Afro-american producer. 

The B-side starts with "The World Needs Love", kind of a spiritual house music, with ethereal keyboards, arpeggios and a vocal sample that adds a certain emotion to the track. 

Our personal favorite is the closing tune "Brooklyn" with its latin-influenced percussions and deep sounds reminding us about the early NYC house music, yet in a new, forward thinking way that we really enjoyed.

Melbourne-based artist Interface Palm presents “Curated Space” on Broken District, his first mini-LP, with 6 tracks skirting the line between broken beat, house, cosmic jazz and hip-hop, including collaboration with fellow Melbourne producer and bass player Horatio Luna.Interface Palm is the project from Australian artist Jordan Hankins. Having established himself as a producer and DJ in Brisbane, he journeyed south seeking a change of scene. A right move for him, as relocating to Melbourne led him signing an EP with local label +Romantics, quickly followed with another release on Beats Of No Nation.

Jordan opens the release with 3 tracks mixed together and served as one continuous production. First track is “Check In”, a cosmic, multi-layered jazz-infused piece, serving as an introduction for the whole release, but also paving the way to the first single of the record: “Readymade”.

More than a track, this is a true journey breaking barriers between styles, mixing elements of disco, G-funk, jazz and broken beat. Kicking-off slowly with a moody piano, Jordan then brings-in a catchy bassline, blending it with uplifting keys and strong broken beat elements, turning it into a one-of-a-kind masterpiece!

Fouk's @Outplay label has been home to some of our favourite EP's of the last few years. It's a label which always focusses on quality over quantity delivering EP's which are perfectly now but equally are just enough out there to help nudge the scene forward. Italian producers @sofa-talk and @xlregular's Afro Quarters EP fits perfectly in this modus operandi.

The EP features four tracks of club edged jazz infused broken beat. It's a sizzling proposition and another rather brilliant addition to the Outplay discography.

William Florelle is a London-born, Lisbon-based, songwriter, producer, and DJ with mixed Nigerian and Swedish Heritage. The project aims to blur the lines between many contemporary soul-driven styles including afrobeat, jazz, R&B, and more club-focused dance music.* 

JW. Carew, (Aka William Florelle) has always been entranced by the deliberate syncopation in music. Stemming from an early love for afrobeat and growing into an appreciation for all styles that share similar cyclic qualities, he is drawn by the meditative state that is a result of the minimal. His debut EP ‘Two & Three’ (WotNot Music, home to K15, Glenn Astro, and more) received high praise as it crisscrossed between the dance floor and soulful R&B.* 

His latest forthcoming releases 'Vessel' & 'Stuck', continue to explore areas where his vocals provide distant and airy songwriting on top of house and broken beat-inspired grooves forming a mishmash of organic and electronic-driven dance music.*

This EP consists of several formidable female artists, hand-picked by Allysha as an extension of the Torn : Tonic message, to empower and share the stories of women and non binary peoples through song. Shy One kicks off the set, fresh from her recent Eglo Records EP, and kicks ’Still Dreaming’ (also featuring Rara Zulu on vocals) up to 130BPM, for a jackin’ heads down affair, complete with an unapologetic kick, crispy hats, chopped rhodes, rolling bass and subtle acid tweaks. Risa T from the CoOp Presents crew is up next with her rub of the Ego Ella May collab ‘Calling You’. This one staying truer to the original track, switching the rhythm to a 4/4 bounce and picking up the tempo — slightly deeper, dubbier affair for the dancers. UK Soulstress Emmavie takes on the album track ‘Fatima’ which also features the vocals of Belle Bangard. The most downtempo of the set, though the double-time hats and growling b-line keep the energy high, with sliced guitar cuts and additional backing vox from Emmavie herself. It’s a seriously smooth concoction. Finally, Glasgow’s Rebecca Vasmant provides her flip of the album’s lead single ‘Let It!’, adding some warm sub-bass and delicate harps. This unique mix brings space to the original sax and harmonics, while the drums run alongside this expansive skippy pulse.

Sounds of Khemit proudly announces the release of "Mujer Inalcanzable," the latest single by Bákayan. This captivating track, featuring remixes by renowned artists Jim Rider and Goyanu, is set to be available on all major streaming platforms from June 21.
"Mujer Inalcanzable" draws its inspiration from a Turkish classical song of the 1970s, a cherished genre and era that resonates deeply with Bákayan. The track began with a haunting melody, later embellished with rhythmic percussion layers. The decision to infuse this composition with Spanish vocals was intuitive, driven by the emotional connection felt between the language and the melodic groove.
In pursuit of this vision, Bákayan had the privilege of collaborating with Pablo Despeyroux, a renowned flamenco guitarist from Barcelona. This extraordinary musical journey was facilitated by Pablo's daughter, who discovered Bákayan's search for a flamenco artist on Instagram. Together, they created "Mujer Inalcanzable," a timeless ode that transports listeners to the sun-kissed shores of the Spanish Riviera and beyond, evoking the warmth and allure of exotic places around the world.
Jim Rider and Goyanu, known for their unique styles and innovative approaches, have contributed their exceptional remixes to this release, adding new dimensions to the original track and ensuring a diverse listening experience.

Just 4 The Beat's first release of the year was well worth waiting for. It comes from Eastern Europe's Urban Haven, who is now based in London but clearly takes great inspiration from deep and soulful Chicago house masters like Glenn Underground and Ron Trent. His first ever EP is an impossibly classy one, and "Roots (Reprise)" is a glorious highlight that starts with luxurious synth puddles and a romantic, conversational sax line. After a three minute build, you sink into a Latin flecked deep house groove of the highest order. This is as musical as house gets and is, unsurprisingly, already big with Mike Huckaby and Kai Alce.

Whilst the club setting may feel detached from many of us at this time, Secretsundaze’s forthcoming release, courtesy of the Zeitgeist Freedom Energy Exchange, will transport you back to the depths of the dancefloor’s energy. A three track EP which is sustained by Ziggy Zeitgeist’s rhythmic consistency on the drums – his scintillating live performance at Church of Sound in August 2019 caught the eyes of the label, leading to the fruition of this project.

His sonically ambidextrous ear has culminated in this compelling piece of work. Having met Berlin-based artist Wayne Snow at a record shop in Neukölln, the pair started jamming together at a converted office space in a building that was attached to a techno club. Their afterhours sessions were mixed with spontaneous trips to the club, allowing Wayne’s soulful vocals and Ziggy’s broken drum patterns to seamlessly merge with the darker, more heavy textures of the club environment.

Wayne’s silky offering on Something Special allows the serenading seven-and-a-half-minute meditation to unravel gradually, enchanting the dancer with its harmonious house beat, accompanied alongside interweaving melodic layers, from Finn Rees on keys, that build its trance.
