🇫🇷 Co-fondateur du crew ATOM, mixologue musical depuis maintenant presque 10 ans et compositeur pour le groupe Obsidian, John Fulgü est un explorateur sonore qui fait route entre de multiples styles et sous-genres.  
Il aime la musique qu'elle soit riche ou minimaliste, sombre ou heureuse, ce qui compte pour lui c'est qu'elle nous touche. 

Après un long séjour de l'autre côté de la Manche, bercé dans la culture unique de la ville de Londres, il est revenu poser ses valises ici, à Lyon, raison pour laquelle il vient ajouter sa pierre à l'édifice de cette série de podcast.

🇬🇧  As one of Atom’s co-founders, John Fulgü has proven himself to be a serious music head in the last ten years, making his way through multiple styles and sub-genres, either in his mixes or with his band, Obsidian.
He just loves music, any music, be it sad or happy, rich or minimalistic; it’s all about emotions for this guy.

After a long time spent across the channel, enjoying London’s unique culture and mood, he came back to Lyon, and is now adding an hour of music to our 69 archives series.

This weeks mix is from Rhodri Price, co-founder of notorious welsh label HAWS. For this mix Rhodri pulled out all the stops, sending us back in time with a huge selection of old skool breaks bangers! I can imagine it now, huge warehouse vibes and plenty of good times. Ain’t no skool like the old skool. Tracks featured on this mix are from legends such as Bass Construction, Top Buzz, Cosmo & Dibs, Gordon Edge, Jonny L and DJ Seduction. Catch Rhodri playing a HAWS event in Distrikt bar leeds featuring a very tasty line up of maruwa + Space Cadets (Adam pits & lisene. he’s also back in the studio after a long layoff from production so keep your ear to the ground for that as well. Chocolate Grinder was born in Jena, received musical training on the piano for 10 years and started DJing in 2012. He has a fondness for vinyl, which is why today's Vacanza Radio is vinyl only. The connection to Jena, the Kassablanca and the local scene, but also collectives like Freude am Tanzen were the companions for his later career. What once started as House music gradually developed in the direction of permissive, groovy minimal music and now ended with more techy sounds. "Lots of 909, little swing, clapping hits on 2 and 4". However, Chocolate Grinder still sees a lot of House influence and wouldn't attribute it solely to Techno based on the general groove. Maybe you could call it Progressive Tech-House music, he says.

In addition, Chocolate Grinder is an integral part of Zeitraum collective, which organized its own festival near Leipzig in 2019 and has since organized smaller club events with top-class DJs. In addition, he has been running a small label called Wellness Records since 2018, which has released a few but well-developed records for vinyl and digital releases in the Minimal House area and is distributed by friends from Inch by Inch. Well-known artists such as Mbius, Sota, Diego Krause, Matter, Award and Pük have already published their releases there.

Chocolate Grinder has already played at mjut, Institut für Zukunft or Elipamanoke and studied musicology alongside, moved to Mainz to work as an event manager to make festivals possible. He also likes to produce music, sometimes Electro, House, Minimal or Progressive, which he likes to play often. On a donation basis, he also explicitly, but not exclusively, offers online courses or in person for Flinta* people to help them get familiar with Ableton and producing.

Pour ce 47ème podcast, on est content d’accueillir cleo, un électron libre dans sa musique comme dans la vie.

Venu tout droit de la chaîne de Belledonne dans les Alpes et plus précisément de l’éco-lieu “Plan libre” qu’il a créé avec ses potes, le jeune loup est DJ depuis maintenant 7 ans. Et même s’il n’habite plus à Lyon depuis un moment, il y a passé suffisamment de temps pour connaître les meilleurs plans de la capitale des gaules à savoir prendre un menu chez Momo au Mont Berliner, digger chez Unité Centrale ou encore prendre un p’tit thé au Perko.

Au départ, l’artiste se produisait sous le blaze De l’amour. Un alias avec lequel il s’attaque également à la production, plutôt côté house music. Une première expérience qui lui a permis au fil des années d’affiner sa vision et de s’affirmer dans des styles plus proches de l'électro, du breakbeat et de la trance, qui lui parlent plus aujourd’hui.

Véritable couteau suisse, il est aussi membre (et pas des moindres) de la team Sekhem qu’il a rejoint peu de temps après sa création en 2019 et pour laquelle il s’occupe aussi bien la partie prog’ et orga côté collectif que la DA côté label. Profond amoureux de la teuf, il aime en être un acteur (que ce soit en étant DJ ou organisateur) et ce n’est pas pour nous déplaire !

Pour ce podcast où il enchaîne les tracks avec autant de facilité que Benzema face aux cages, cleo a passé pas mal de temps sur le net pour nous digger de sacrées balles 80’s/90’s, qui reflètent plutôt bien la vibe chez Sekhem. D’ailleurs, restez à l'affût car la prochaine sortie est un missile nucléaire. 

Big-up à lui pour ce podcast et pour sa recette infaillible de pâte à l’ail : huile d'olive, ail, persil, parmesan, sel et poivre (dans cet ordre pré-ci-sé-ment).

EMC is excited to introduce the last Shapes episode of 2023! Welcome to Kali!

As a selector, Kali ’s musical style fluctuates around trance infused house, high-speed techno stirred up with breaks and electro. Having started her journey as a dj at queer parties in 2013, Kali soon gained experience in organizing events, always striving to create a safe space for LGBTQI+ people in Budapest. Her mission has always been to reinforce the representation of queer people and womxn in the electronic music scene. She was part of the technosexual party collective of @omohbp. Since 2019 she’s an active member of @persephoneparty a queer feminist collaboration dedicated to showcase FLINTA artists. In the past years Kali had the chance to show her fast-forward style to the audience abroad by playing at the Lecken-OMOH-Persephone after party in Kake, Berlin, heating up the dancefloor before @jakojako_live in Munich’s @harrykleinclub, returning to Zürich’s FLINTA parties organized by GLITBAQ, and bringing her positive energy to Innsbruck’s @arche-ahoi club. This past summer she brought her hi-energy vibes at @daadgathering and the famous @ozora-festival.

Welcome to the first episode of the year of our Shapes playlist! Welcome to Flaw

Flavio aka Flaw had a constant relationship with music, leading him to numerous experiences as a musician and always gravitating towards the world of electronic music. DJ/Selector based in Bologna, Flaw is part of the Girovelle Psicotronice family, playing techno, fresh breakbeat/trance, electro and progressive sounds.

A fusion between past and contemporary, new releases and re-emerged records complement each other by always trying to tell something different, the defined idea of the sounds that he loves does not hinder a continuous and obsessed turnover of his archive. This set reflects this attitude, starting with an atmospheric and syncopated intro, then building a climax that reaches the peak and successively descends down to an introspective ground floor.

David Mootney, @flower-broadcast-systems label curator delivers a colorful dancefloor oriented mix full of mood swings. Being educated in ways of groove in infamous Kyiv based Closer club, and released on labes like @progressivefuture and @mute-artefact David is no stranger to broken and bass driven beats as well as sublime house numbers. The mix progresses from cutting edge 2-step into al variations of house music spectrum, from deep and tech to acid and detroit.
