A companion piece to ‘I Really Couldn’t Have Done It Without You’- again, composed largely of Electronisounds loops,with just the bass and the EP stabs to keep me honest as it were. A slightly more chilled feel than its stable-mate. I just had to escape from the hardware for a bit, and this is the result.

Impossible to categorise, as always. Reworked and (hopefully) improved for a physically-distanced friend. I am really pleased with this, and a little sad that the original, unimproved version has many times the plays. Still massively pleased with the track though!

Not so much a commission per se- I put this together for a friend’s landmark birthday. Unfortunately I couldn’t find any retro samples that said “fifty?” in a disbelieving tone of voice, so what you hear is what you get...

Simply that- just an idea. Short and to the point. May get an extended treatment at some stage. My fastest tempo to date bar one.

Just an Idea..

Dark ambient this time, i hope you can enjoy it. This has done with Cigarboxguitar with bow. Uprightpiano, foundsounds, Mononoke and some other things were used. All those soinds were sample in to GAUSS app inside aum and played live. All production is done inside ipad.

Before Suicidemission

Recorded at a mere 87bpm, but it doesn’t sound like it. The title says it all- it is indeed just another bloody twelve-bar, but Status Quo it ain’t. It is, however, short. Short is good.

Just Another Bloody 12-bar...

Serendipity. I needed something from my old iPad Mini, which is pretty much useless as it cannot go beyond iOS 9. However, browsing the few apps that remain, my eye was caught by Alchemy, a classic soft synth long since swallowed up and spat out by garridgeband. Having had a bit of a noodle, I felt I ought to restore purchases- and there, tucked away where I had never seen it before, was an Xmas patch. It was all the inspiration I needed.

The pic is of yer actual Rory the Border, taken a few 25 Decs ago,wearing his Xmas ribbon and his best Wandsworth* face. And rest assured that I will not be doing this again- having used every Xmas trope (with the exception of a school choir) on this piece I have neither urge nor need to do this again. But everyone’s got to record at least one Xmas number, do they not?

A Rory the Border Xmas

I assume this is techno because I assembled it from techno-type loops and beats. I’m sure someone will tell me if it’s not... Very little actual playing input from the artist here, the track being put together from loops and arps found lying around on the iPad- most of them from the Electronisounds stable. It makes a nice change from battling with hardware!
