WIFI GOLD - SAVE BEFORE CLOSING(A2iCE & BO3 Remix)

Seven suites of deep and sprawling sonic meditations built around ‘call and response’ improv sessions between Randy Raine-Reusch and Michael Red.

Initially realized over the course of a few days in Randy’s instrument museum in Vancouver BC [December, 2014] 'ERAS' is made up of processed, and sometimes multi tracked, improvisations between Randy and Michael. Through these sessions Randy would choose instruments he sensed possibilities within, and Michael then revealed and sculpted these possibilities. Both resonating, sensing sonic structures, environmental nuances, and further worlds in each other’s art, all within the moment. Being present for each other, they acted on instinct, trusting a first thought, trusting each other; committing, responding to that commitment, then mutating and letting go. Always moving forward, synthesizing and letting the living moment lead the way.

Talk and book launch by Luis-Manuel Garcia-Mispireta

In his new book, Together, Somehow: Music, Affect, and Intimacy on the Dancefloor, Luis Manuel Garcia-Mispireta examines how people find ways to get along and share a dancefloor, a vibe, and a sound. Drawing on time spent in the minimal techno and house music subscenes in Chicago, Paris, and Berlin as the first decade of the new millennium came to a close, Garcia-Mispireta rethinks intimacy and belonging through dancing crowds and the utopian vision of throbbing dancefloors.

Diving more specifically into the chapter on »The Sweetness of Coming Undone« for this talk, Garcia-Mispireta reflects that when partygoers narrate, plan, imagine, and nostalgically remember a night out partying, they often express a desire for »something« to happen, a yearning for moments of intensity and rupture that make a night out feel special. In this presentation, he will investigate how »rough« experience forms part of nightlife cultures, as well as how partygoers manage its pains and pleasures. A dualism emerges between smooth flow and rough thrills, one that can be found not only in interviews with partygoers but also in music reviews, recordings, and popular discourse around electronic music. In contrast to psychoanalytic accounts of ecstatic self-shattering and radical transformation (such as jouissance and limit-experience), partygoers seeking rough experiences strive for the more modest pleasures of »coming undone«: stretching, unspooling, and snapping back together again.

For their first EP on CAF?, Torchon & GANJ bring together 4 tracks recorded during live performances between 2021 and 2022. Three of the tracks were recorded during their multichannel concert at Cinéma de Bellevaux (Lausanne, CH), organized in February 2022 by the Association du Salopard. These three tracks were specially designed for this sound performance, stripping away the deepest textures of their machines, invoking mischievous creatures nestled in the transistors. As a B-side, Sharkdance is the most played track by the duo for several years, a sincere homage to the saturated, simple, and effective 303.

Having known about his excellent production skills for a while, we were quite eager to unearth this hidden gem. It took a moment to put together but everyone’s patience paid off and we can proudly present you this beautiful 5 track record.

The Wearside raised and Berlin based artist provides the perfect formula for a club ready yet emotively aware package, making it hard to believe that this is only his debut EP. A work of music that embodies the refreshing candor of a forward thinking attitude whilst also giving a respectful nod to the past.
