Julia Mira is doing this month's mix. Julia is an Estonian-born and raised DJ and visual artist based in The Netherlands. She is a fine DJ with an exciting taste and a curious look at what it takes to build a scene and fuel the city's cultural life. She was a part of Red Light Radio, where she’s been regularly hosting radio shows, playing club nights and festivals, contributing to the podcasts during the past few years. Julia strengthens the powers of Knekelhuis in the busiest periods of the label. 
The mix is a dive into diverse music genres, a great palette of constructive flavor, a fresh and experimental journey through darkness to the light, and all the way back.

We didn't have to go too far for the June guest mix, as it was delivered by Prague's Marie Pravda. This young DJ has become an integral part of local lineups over the last few years and has appeared on several well-established guest mix series. In her selections, she emphasizes consistency and the listener’s well-being, as she says, she always wants to convey some emotion with her mixes. Recently, she’s become a resident of the new local initiative Planeta Za, as well as the European collaborative project Gravity Network. She’s also started devoting herself to her own music production, and we can only look forward to what this will bring in the future.

Chicago’s Beau Wanzer makes for a special case in today’s electronic music game. Molecular biologist by trade, the American producer tinkers with his analogue gear like a mad scientist; slicing, dicing, drilling down and through the super cial dermis of raw machinic spurts and variedly sourced samples to extract a sizzling juice of fractured synthlines, frantic scope distortions and off-kilter rhythms that goes unparalleled these days.

In recent years he has had collaborations and formed various projects, he is also known under the names: Mutant Beat Dance (with Traxx and Steve Summers), De-Bons-en-Pierre (with Maoupa Mazzocchetti), Civil Duty and Garum (with Shawn O Sullivan), Juzer, and Streetwalker (with Elon Katz)

His release history includes labels such as L.I.E.S., LA Club Resource, Jealous God, Ophism, Suction Records, BREW, Nation, Cititrax, Rush Hour, Dark Entries, Mannequin, The Trilogy Tapes, and his own 'Self-released "label. 

"The mix is a hodgepodge of failed electronics, punk pricks, comical conundrums, and a love song," - explains Beau Wanzer.

The pandemic hasn't stopped this veteran producer from bringing out multiple killer releases on labels like [aufnahme + wiedergabe] , Pinkman, and many others. He's also curated some excellent releases on Mannequin that include a sick EP by Arnaud Rebotini, a re-release of 80's Dutch group Doxa Sinistra, and a favorite here at GF is the Barcelona-based duo Dame Area. For this milestone, he's put together a climatic selection that spans electro, elements of house and techno, acid, breaks that are precisely knit together with a consistent storyline.
