Delighted to host @osare-editions influence mix on Oddity Radio.

@elenacolombi : The OG mix was recorded for you around a year ago. It showcased a lot of inspiring women - past and present - in music and art.. it was closely connected to the 'Donne Che Corrono Coi Lupi' release that came out last December on Osàre!. For this reason when you announced a long delay of the Oddity website / project I thought it might be best to air that mix via NTS [04.10.21] instead, keeping it close to the release date of the cassette. 

So the mix I am sending you today is mix #2 : A selection focussing entirely on upcoming artists and music on Osàre!. 

Some of the music might not come out for a while, so the track-list is partly top-secret. Still, I couldn't think of a better way to showcase what the label is all about!! I hope you enjoy it.

Italian label-head, radio host and DJ Elena Colombi has been holding it down on platforms like NTS and stages like Dekmantel for close to up to a decade. Their ear for the out there crossings of experimental, industrial and techno sounds is truly next to none. Not only does this show their skills on how to blend these styles to accuracy world wide but reflects on the music they pick for their excellent Osàre! Editions imprint since 2019. Off The Record Mix Series 46: Elena Colombi

Elena Colombi likes the weird and wonderful things in music. Her show on NTS proves that, skipping as it does from techno to EBM, post punk to industrial and wave music with an always inquisitive ear. An under-the-radar regular at some choice parties around London for years, she is sure to break out into the wider consciousness in 2017, and we hope that this new podcast from her goes some way to assisting with that, because she is a selector well worth sharing. 

Filled with frosted industrial landscapes, muffled drums and plenty of metallic surfaces, Colombi’s mix finds light in darkness and human emotions in abstract sounds. It’s a fully realized sonic world that could be old, could be new, but is never less than wholly absorbing and uniquely odd.

In Hour 2 we hand over to Elena Colombi from Italy who rrelocated to London in 2008 and set up a successful series of parties that made her name on the underground scene. Now a respected DJ and radio host on NTS, Elena’s musical style taps into a wide array of influences and inspirations. For her, knowing and feeling music doesn’t mean specialising in one particular genre. Never one to pander to trends, she embraces the best elements of the past and future, paying particular attention to obscure and undiscovered artists. Industrial rhythms, pulsing techno, ambient atmospheres, synthesised sounds, freaky disco, balearic love affairs, proto-house, and other addictive world music — anything goes and is perfectly balanced in her dynamic sets, whether on radio, in a club, or in her own collection of diverse yet coherent mixes. She had this to say;
" A dig intro the darker, harsher, rougher and more twisted sounds of my collection. Most are current favourites, a couple are classics you might have heard me play out over the years. I hope you like!"

Kraków-based Olivia is an Unsound resident DJ, always taking on new challenges. The local electro, Detroit and italo connoisseur has had a great 2018, with her debut EP Skawa finally being released, and more international dates appearing in her calendar. Elena Colombi is one of the fastest rising DJs of recent months, known for her eclectic mixes and a fascinating NTS show. The Italian-born artist is based in London, where she came up as a promoter. An open-minded DJ who doesn’t specialize in one particular genre, her dynamic sets are a frantic mix of pulsing techno, freaky disco and proto-house. @elenacolombi and @olivia-ungaro played a b2b set at Unsound 2018.
