After his 2021 EP, which featured Carlo Ruetz's most successful Beatport single to date 'Critical Mass', and his new release 'Proton', both released on Oliver Huntemann's label Senso Sounds, Carlo Ruetz returns to Kuukou for another bang.
The man is known for blazing and futuristic sounds that come whipping around the corner without warning. 'On A Stream' does just that: The title track starts with a trance baseline, building on noise-like samples plus melodic yet futuristic synths to create an inescapable wormhole. 'The Journey' is more subtle but instant in its introduction of elements, with ultra- fast percussions and an underlying organ, that adds drama to the classic techno track.

Elevate is a label run by Techno mainstays Pig&Dan who are an international DJ and production duo, who along with releases on Elevate are a regular feature on labels including Drumcode, Cocoon, Bedrock and Terminal M.

Finishing off 2016 with a look to the future, the label owners have compiled a special 21 track release titled ‘Next Generation’.

Handpicked by Pig&Dan themselves the new Elevate release is very much a family gathering, where Elevate favourites like Mark Reeve, Aitor Ronda, Rob Hes and Carlo Ruetz get to meet and interact with artists like Etai Tarazi, Fideles and Sezer Uysal who are making their debut appearance on the label.

Each of the artists who feature on the release come with a proven musical pedigree with artists like Mark Reeve having recently released on Drumcode, and Sezer Uysal is heavily associated with Suara.

Carlo Ruetz has done a solo release on Richie Hawtin’s iconic label Minus, and Etai Tarazi has put out a number of EP’s on Sian's Octopus Records.

The list of prestigious things achieved by each of the artists on Elevate's forthcoming Next Generation release is endless, and most importantly the music is nothing less than spectacular!

Dancefloor focused with tough grooves and captivating tones, each track is programmed to perfection, and this sampler showcases six of the tracks from the release.

With her trademark shock of untamed dark hair, the Nigeria-born artist can be spotted in a DJ booth by profile alone, rocking crowds before she even drops a record. In-demand all over the world, Moudaber has played everything from intimate after-hours clubs; to revered nightclub institutions like Space, DC-10, Output and Stereo; to massive festival stages, including Glastonbury, Electric Daisy Carnival and Coachella. She’s also been featured by the New York Times, CNN and Billboard.

Nicole follows up her 2015 release on Truesoul with ‘Your Love Picks Me Up’, a 2 track EP featuring a remix from in-form producer Marco Faraone. Kicking off with Nicole’s original, the vocal hook teases itself in and is guaranteed to get stuck in your head. Expect to this one sung back at you on any dance floor. Marco Faraone is one of techno’s fastest rising stars as his remix is a prime example of why, putting his sinister twist on the track with pounding drums and sharp piano stabs. Cooked up with a more melodic vibe and fusing elements of house and techno, Dense & Pika’s latest outing on Drumcode offers something different compared to their previous work. There is still that vintage feel to each of the tracks with analogue sounds and arrangements born and developed from experimental studio jams. Indeed, ‘Suki’ heavily utilizes the distinct harmonic tones of the Dave Smith Prophet 8 keyboard. While ‘Little Sun’ - A staple of D&P performances over the last three months - delivers a more classic Drumcode sound. ‘Lanky’ closes out the release with an infectious slab of wonderfully wonked-out raw funk.

Julian Jeweil returns with a generous five-track EP continuing his stellar 2017. 

Following on from his ‘Rolling’ EP that dropped in January and featured the outstanding ‘Blue’, an early contender for one of the strongest tracks of the year, Julian Jeweil drops the crisp intergalactic techno trip ‘Space’

The EP begins in stunning fashion with title track ‘Space’, driven by stirring vocal effects that build up tremendously, later giving way to a punchy acid-laced climax. ‘South’ follows, a low-end tour de force. ‘Answer’ is already familiar to fans after it featured on DCR368 Live from Loveland and the track is a rousing peak-time weapon propelled by subterranean stabs. ‘Encke’ is deliciously mind-bending, led by heavy bass and distorted effects, before ‘Module’ follows providing a groovier, but no less powerful contrast.

This week´s #AMFM is the second hour of the set that I played at @pachabarcelona on September 10th, a Sunday night. Of what I heard, the busiest Sunday ever so far at Pacha Barcelona. Well, let´s not gimme the whole credit for that (although my DJ ego would love that), there also was a public bank holiday on Monday … still - what a crowd and what a vibe! @flug played a great opening set and I think I could have gone on for hours and hours to be honest. Anyways, in the end it was a 4,5h set and you will be able to relive it within these 4 weeks now. Barcelona rocks! Muchas Gracias!
