Filthy Rich: DJ, Producer, Label owner, Podcaster, but most importantly, music-lover. And it’s the latter of these attributes that drives him to fulfill the others with such passion and aplomb. As a DJ he has inspired crowds from Pacha in Buenos Aires to Space in Ibiza, from Ultra in Miami to Ministry in London. Despite having collected such tangible and coveted  accolades as Mixmag’s “Future Hero” tag, Rich says “It’s the people coming to the shows and buying my music that’s the real reward, they’re the ones that drive and inspire me to do what I do”.

This current breakneck pace began as a music-obsessed student, taking his first tentative steps onto the the 90s dancefloors of Godskitchen and Cream, before picking up momentum on the slippery slope of buying decks, crate digging and playing local gigs for petrol money, which eventually resulted in residencies at Kiss Da Funk and the legendary Gatecrasher. Rich’s influences in the studio are many and varied, taking in universal pioneers like New Order and Daft Punk, as well as more cerebral technologists such as Martin Buttrich and Trentemøller to distill a sound that is as distinctive as it is effective.

Releasing on much venerated labels including Great Stuff, 1605, Incorrect and more recently the likes of OFF, Kittball, Sphera and Hot Waves, Rich’s sound drifts between deep sexy house and garage inspired tech as per his “Do It Again” and “Kripke's Basement” hits as well as more intricate and involving tech house whilst never straying too far from a killer groove.  Leading UK outlet Toolroom has proved one of his most fertile homes, and recently gave rise to the Beatport chart topper that was “Justified” alongside Prok & Fitch.  “I just love experimenting and keeping things fresh in the studio,” offers Rich. “I tend to stick to my house roots, but my sound has definitely gone from the techier side to the deeper side recently...”

Of course, Rich is also one half of ever in demand live techno duo, Spektre, alongside Paul Maddox.  Together then have steered their focused and revered label, Respekt, to its 76th release, and the accompanying podcast series now has 100 proud editions to its name whilst the pair themselves have turned out a steady and consistently excellent series of steely EPs on a collection of techno’s elite labels including Phobiq, BluFin, Driving Forces and Rhythm Converted. Next up, though, is the duo’s long awaited second full-length artist album, Cyclic Operations, due for release this summer on UK’s leading label Toolroom. Given that Spektre regularly play alongside the likes of James Zabiela at world-renowned clubs like Space in Ibiza, it’s no wonder the pair are so well loved.  

But that’s enough of the past, because the future is set to be just as good for Filthy Rich: As well as playing at the likes of Godskitchen Global Gathering , Sonar and Groove Cruise Festival this summer, so too does the Filthy one have remixes coming on Rusted, Sphera and Toolroom, new EPs for Incorrect, Great Stuff, NastyFunk and Funk Pony as well as many others.

Recently I was commissioned by Sony BMG to do the only official dance mix of Usher: Dj's Got Us Fallin' In Love. It was undoubtedly an honour and an opportunity I could not refuse. Interestingly enough, the mix took me in a slightly more big room, techy direction, which may appeal to some more than others! I am pleased to provide a clip of the finished mix!

For this special promo-only package, the ever versatile Ad Brown treats us to an anthemic progressive rework of the dance classic "No Other Love" by Blue Amazon, undoubtedly one of the biggest dance acts of the 90's. 

Not content with remixing for the likes of Usher (Sony BMG) and DJ'ing throughout Europe and India, Ad has yet again worked veritable production magic in breathing new life into this classic record. He contributes various artist signatures, including lush pads and floaty arpeggios, while greatly enhancing the vocal and piano themes of the original track.   

"No Other Love" was originally released in 1995 at the peak of Blue Amazon's success. The track became an instant hit, characterised by the enchanting, echoey vocals, hook line, and piano, all of which gave the track an unparalleled warmth. Fifteen years later, "No Other Love" is yet again set to find its way into the digital record collection of music lovers everywhere, this time in the form of the Ad Brown Vs. This set was recorded on my first trip to South Africa, where I performed at a festival and a free show in Soweto alongside local artists Vinny da Vinci , Dj Fresh, Euphonik, Culoe de Song and LSG. All tour dates were partnered with non-profit organisation Bridges for Music. The aim was to use music to break down socio-economic boundaries bringing people from different communities together .
