Johan Weitner is a former singer/songwriter/multi-instrumentalist/producer in 90s power pop combo Elevator Adam. Walked away when the music biz collapsed at the turn of the century. Still sometimes publishes his own stuff here under the Monsieur Ministre moniker.

"Kings of powerpop for a day"

Elevator Adam formed in January 1993 in Malmö, Sweden and burst onto the local scene a year later to rave reviews. A year of touring most of Sweden was followed in 1995 with a five track debut ep, "Alcomoon" from which the opening track, "Where Did I Go Right", spawned some brief semi-heavy rotation on national radio and video airing on national music television. 

However they remained a secret for most of the human kind, and after releasing a cd single ("Wednesday" / "Why Do You Love Me Now") in 1999 they called it quits in January 2000, after playing their last show at Popstad 2000 in their hometown.

Although primarily known for their energetic gobsmacking live performances, behind closed doors they were in fact very productive in the early days of the computer-based digital home studio. They were always very prolific songwriters, as regular visitors of their shows would testify, but starting in 1995 they captured a great deal of that song production onto a regular desktop pc. Which is why it hasn't all faded away on decaying compact cassettes. Which is why it’ll soon be available in a Soundcloud near you...

Some of them were simpler demos, without the full lineup. Some of them were more ambitious projects involving the full monty. Some were even recorded in real actual recording studios. Some were playful to an extent perhaps not immediately associated with this band, and some were part of a deliberate progress that was never really properly presented to the public. And sometimes you can even hear a bonafide 90s party going on in the background, leaking into the vocal tracks.

All in all it adds up to a decent catalog for a band that was active for 7 years.

The purpose of publishing it now is simply to reveal the extent of their production, the scope of their studio work, and the rather interesting journey they made, from the initially rather straight and traditional four-piece power pop, to the decidedly more elaborate recordings of their later years. Or simply put: This needs to be in the cloud... 

This is the legacy of a mostly unknown band, in its entirety, warts and all. There should be something in here for everyone... Enjoy.

Margit Music is swedish artist Lotta Wenglén’s label and recording studio, located in Böste Sweden. It was up and running 2001 and this is where Lotta releases all her songs. In the beginning she also released the music of her friends.
