I/O explores multiple approaches to the sounds possible on the piano via electronic manipulation. Nothing is external; every element of the work originates in the analogue sounds made on the disklavier, a sort of modern, digitally-enabled version of the player piano. 

I/O (2014)

Caitlin is a Melbourne based composer who enjoys combining both classical and pop elements into her pieces. Her biggest inspiration is Björk. 

Cristian-Emanuel Opriș blends electronic music with piano, trumpet, accordion sounds and his voice, oscillating between delicate and aggressive elements. He has released 11 studio albums, 7 live albums, 2 collections and 1 original soundtrack, in only 6 years. Sometimes, he composes for other artists. A fresh and atmospheric style, translating emotion and personal stories into an innovative mixture. 

I love making my own music.

The expressive themes that interest me include alienation, psychological repression, the existential vacuum, obsession, rage, absurdity, mourning, regret, neurosis, depression, death, and the concept of self.  These themes may be bleak, yet all sounds are intended to be ultimately uplifting affirmations of human vitality and spirit.

Influences range from old-school industrial to musique concrète and contemporary classical, from kosmische musik to minimalism and dada, from power electronics to any form of genuinely experimental music.  While absorbing and acknowledging these influences, it is important to me to find and evolve my own sound.
