As a ‘self-confessed vinyl addict" DJ and producer of considerable note, Matty Doyle is a man on a mission to scale the heights of the underground dance scene through his Matter production moniker. As he continues that assault with a growing ammunition of club floor-fillers, Proton Music is extremely proud to announce the release of his debut original EP for the label as Matter delivers his "Pronoia" EP.

Based in the cosmopolitan city of Melbourne, on the south-eastern edge, Matter is part of a growing force of Australian music producers that continue to make important strides in the underground dance movement. A regular in the clubs of his hometown and renowned DJ for over a decade, Matter has found himself supplying a "unique energy" to his craft, supplemented with a host of "controllers and drum machines", feeding an energy through his music that transmits itself to a positive charge in his audience. Furthermore, this passion for DJ'ing is extended to his monthly, "Ultra Sound" show on Proton Radio, highlighting "the finest in progressive and melodic techno".

A production career that began with work on UK label Underphunk in 2010, has rapidly matured as Matter began to become a regular on Hungarian, Erich Von Kollar's Stellar Fountain imprint, followed by original and remix work for Balkan Connection, Clinique and Mistique Music. A highly productive 2016 has already seen remixes of Rick Pier O'Neil, Robert R. Hardy and Jorgio Kioris as well as regular appearances on the Visceral compilation series.

Matter's growing catalogue on Proton Music is no less impressive. May 2016's "Superposition" EP, with fellow countryman GMJ, highlighted the duo's undoubted production skills, with "Atoms" also receiving October 2016 remixes from Oliver Lieb and Rich Curtis, while Doyle's solo outing reworking both Biologik and Dousk in trademark fashion, set a high benchmark of quality.

Now debuting with his first solo original EP on the label, the title track opens with Matter's stamp of authority as a Moroder style bass line runs hypnotically through a nine-minute offering, accompanied by ticking hi-hats, metronomic house beats and subtly swung percussive groove. Intelligent melodic sequences play their part in angular, delayed fashion while luscious, white-noise fuelled pads emerge from the aural melange. The resultant effect is to create a dynamic and mature offering that is full of Matter's signature sounds.

Partner track, "Seed" continues the rich dynamic bass line that has become such a staple feature of the Matter production portfolio. Pulsating pads and emotive chord sequences bring spine-tingling sensations to the fore in an emotionally charged breakdown that bristles with energy. The third movement then sees a return to the bass-dominated groove, delayed effects and production values that create such a sense of open space and freedom within Matter's work.

In a world of paranoia and suspicion, it is no secret that Matter's "Pronoia" is certain to greatly benefit the club going faithful.

Part of the "Penumbra" EP in November 2016, the Lanvary 'double-headed dragon' once again showed its firepower with a trio of tracks that were full of craft and skill. Returning to the EP, "Manticore", now receives a full release with remixes from Europe and South America.

Describing his sound as "deep, emotional, dreamy electronic dance music", Mladen Jurosevic, has been involved in music from the tender age of ten before establishing himself through the Youngen production alter-ego. An accomplished accordion player, Youngen has acquired almost a century of production credits since a debut for KP Recordings in 2013. Bonzai Progressive, Mistique Music and OLD SQL have all featured the Bosnian's work while an appearance on the "Spring Particles 2015" compilation opened his account for the label. A subsequent remix of Rick Pier O'Neil in early 2016 is now followed by a second as the Youngen remix of "Manticore" delights with a deliciously melodic foundation that ripples across a nine-minute offering. A freeform riff and searing lead line cuts through the mid-range frequencies in acetylene torch fashion while a strong kick, bass groove and hi-hat urgency complete an impressive rework.

Operating out of Cordoba, in the centre of the country, Argentinean, Lucas Rossi, is an artist with an impressive range of achievements since an incipient career began in 2011. Resident of the "Bianca Espacio Electronico" club in his hometown, DJ appearances alongside SoundExile and Fernando Ferreyra help cement the Argentine's reputation with a raft of additional gigs across the country. Despite only making his commercial debut in 2014 with the "Return of the Sun" EP for Suffused Music, a plethora of work has been signed to Massive Harmony, Seven Spirits and 3rd Avenue among many. Making his Particles debut, Lucas Rossi has provided a chunky laid-back remix of "Manticore", making clever use of Lanvary's original components and crafting them in to a unique new interpretation. A glistening free-form motif shines above with texture layers of pads and white-noise effects, while a head-swaying percussive groove keeps all elements locked together with aplomb.

Accomplished artists in their own rights, the Mexican/Argentinean pairing of Uvo and Lautaro Varela, have been sought after producers, each with over a century of production credits to their name. With a Mistique Digital debut in 2012, Uvo has been a regular on the Balkan Connection label as well as Sound Avenue and Forward Music and supported by Cattaneo, Sasha and Digweed. Similarly, Lautaro Varela's work for 3rd Avenue, Stripped Digital and Mistique Music have been well received as Nick Warren, Dave Seaman and Jimmy Van M can testify. Centred around the "Dreamcatcher" EP for Movement Recordings, Uvo and Varela's work has also seen a remix of Dousk for Yin while they now make their collaborative debut for Particles. With a clicking, clave percussive groove in full effect, a rippling arpeggio line forms the foundation for a meandering lead line to flourish atop in delayed glory. An emotive bass line variant adds further interest as a raft of additional production material creates a unique and intriguing remix of Lanvary's work.

With three new remixes from Youngen, Lucas Rossi and Uvo and Lautaro Varela, Lanvary's "Manticore" continues to take on mythical and legendary status.

Spring 2018 saw Mexican artist, Hot Tuneik, debut on Proton Music with "Revival". Now returning to the EP, new remixes from esteemed producers provide a fresh new perspective.

The ‘double-headed dragon' that comprises the Lanvary production duo has seen Alex and Andrew become a major force in the electronic music scene. Diverse musical perspectives have seen the pair delight with a musical recipe that combines elements from progressive and deep house with techno flourishes in a distinct and unique sound. Over a century of production credits can be found next to the Lanvary name since an early debut for Underphunk in late 2010. Going on to see their music featured on Stellar Fountain, Mistique Music and Particles, their work for the latter has found success with a trio of original EPs in 2015's "Micromegas", 2016's "Penumbra" and 2017's "Leviathan". Lanvary's work for Proton Music is centred around the superb "Venus" in December 2017, while a pair of remixes for Matter is now followed by a wonderful reworking of "Memories". Hitting hard with dominant beat and ticking off-beat percussion, a sumptuous bass groove quickly makes its presence felt as the melodic elements of the original resonate through the Lanvary interpretation. The pulsating string motifs from Hot TuneiK's track rise and fall throughout and a host of new production material supply dynamic dance-floor credentials to keep club-goers happy with a seamless blend of rhythm and melody.

An artist with sizeable success across his South American home, Juan Deminicis has been at the vanguard of the underground dance scene for a decade. Proton Music is therefore delighted to welcome him back with "Life on the Moon".

Hailing from the bustling, cosmopolitan Buenos Aries capital, Deminicis sought inspiration from a host of leading names including Nick Warren, James Zabiela and fellow countryman, Hernan Cattaneo. Quickly finding his feet in the clubs of his hometown and across the country, the Argentinean became an established figure with performances at Bahrein, Fruta and Club Nina.

In tandem, a production career has been no less impressive. Over 270 release credits can thus be found against the Juan Deminicis name for a plethora of high-calibre imprints including Click, Lost and Found and Sudbeat. Indeed, the "Babel" EP was a notable highlight for the Cattaneo led imprint in early 2016 as was August 2018's "Umbra" for Dutch label, Click Records.

Supported across the clubs of the world by leading lights that include Guy J, Nick Warren and John Digweed, Deminicis has been a regular on Proton Music with a 2012 debut alongside Pablo Acenso coming in the shape of "Downshifting"; the stunning "Behind the Sun" EP coming a year later. Remixed by Guy Mantzur, Khen and James Monro has kept Juan Deminicis at the cutting edge of underground dance. Returning in March 2018 to remix GMJ's "Push Through", we are privileged to welcome Juan Deminicis back to the label.

The title track is a beautifully crafted affair that evolves effortlessly over its near eight-minute voyage. Strong beat and cavernous bassline, coupled with offbeat shaker pattern, create an epic bouncing groove that lays the perfect foundation for a swathe of analogue melodies to shimmer and sparkle in freeform patterns. Full of dancefloor credentials, delay and reverb create a spacious effect that truly gives rise to "Life on the Moon".

Partner track, "Tao the King" immediately makes its mark with huge bouncing bassline and techno rhythm. Redolent in white-noise effects, a sublime motif filters into sonic range as an analogue lead fills the airwaves with crystal clarity and an updated retro vibe creates a series of textured layers that resonate with Vangelis and a rich sci-fi scoundscape. Hitting its stride in the third movement with detuned arpeggio, the resultant track is a modern sonic masterpiece.

A renowned talent with global support from fans and peers alike, Juan Deminicis showcased an array of skills and beautiful melodies with "Life on the Moon". Returning to the EP, new remixes find German, Brazilian and Australian stars firmly in the spotlight.

An artist with a sizeable reputation over a number of years, Christian Wedekind is a name familiar to the underground community with his D-Nox soubriquet. A global DJ phenomenon with performances across his German home from the 1990s onwards and across Brazil, Japan, Mexico and Australia, his work with Beckers saw the duo thrill audiences with mesmerising sets and expertly-crafted sonic voyages. Almost 500 production credits tell their own story across some of the finest imprints that include Suara, Tronic, Bedrock and D-Nox's own, Sprout Music. Supported by a global elite that includes, John Digweed, Hernan Cattaneo and Dave Seaman, D-Nox joins forces with the multi-talented Brazilian artist, ZAC, himself a renowned DJ and producer featured on the likes of Sony Music and Universal.

Thus, the D-Nox and ZAC remix creates a strong dance-floor intensity as a fast-paced rhythm entices with rapid-fire percussion and rolling snare fills. Building effortlessly, an identity with the original emerges as the familiar melodic refrains of "Life in the Moon" bounce across a near eight-minute piece in new intriguing cadence. Full of melodic flourish at the mid-point breakdown, the driving rhythm and intelligently worked melodic groove hit the heights once again in the third movement.

The powerhouse pairing of Gavin Griffin and Matty Doyle have seen the Australian duo create a magnetic forcefield that has attracted huge support and attention since they first joined forces on the "Superposition" EP for Proton Music in May 2016. Hugely successful in their own rights with original and remix work for both Particles and the flagship imprint, June 2017's "Osmosis" and August 2018's "Interscope" EPs continued to showcase production talent of the highest order. A trio of remixes of Pete K's "Utopia", Andre Sobota's "Unmute" and Rudy's "Time" provided another window on the pair's talent in late 2016, 2017 and 2018 and it is thus a genuine pleasure to welcome them back for a fourth outing on the remix trail.

Supplying yet another moment of magic, GMJ and Matter take "Tao the King" on a sumptuous journey redolent in rolling bass groove and steam-powered white noise effects with their 'Royalty Remix'. A glittering and delayed motif appears at the start of the second movement as a swathe of new counterpoint melodic lines entwine effortlessly with original components. Hitting new heights at a rousing crescendo with pulsating intensity, the track explodes in a glorious rhythmic groove that illustrates precisely why GMJ and Matter are such sought-after producers.

Juan Deminicis - Life on the Moon (D-Nox & ZAC Remix)

November 2018's "Life on the Moon" confirmed Juan Deminicis' status in the upper echelons of the underground dance scene. Remixes from Argentina and Europe now continue the journey on Particles.

Lucas Rossi has been an impressive contributor to Argentina's underground dance scene for almost a decade. From his Cordoba home, a residency at "Bianca Espacio Electronica" saw impressive performances with Darin Epsilon, Matias Chilano and Deminicis himself, while gigs across South America have seen him perform on the same bill as Jimmy Van M, Dave Seaman and Eelke Klein. A production career that has seen over a century of credits hit a stream of high-profile imprints after a 2014 debut for Suffused Music, has since found Rossi's work on the likes of Songbird and Balkan Connection, while a further notable highlight was an appearance on Nick Warren's The Soundgarden with the "Adversities" EP in May 2018.

A pair of Particles remixes for Lanvary in October 2017 and Kynan Cosma in September 2018 are now joined by a third as Lucas Rossi delivers a compelling rework. Paying tribute to Deminicis' track, the refrains of the original create a familiar framework before the melodic phrasing so central to "Life on the Moon" cleverly lifts itself out of the rhythmic groove. A strong beat, white-noise washes and airy pads create extra depth in a strong remix.

Striving to be an "original and unique artist, with his own style of music", Filip Abramczyk has been a standout performer in Poland's underground dance scene. Through his Pysh moniker, the Warsaw resident hit the headlines after winning a remix competition for Booka Shade's "Regenerate" and going on to perform regularly across Poland and Europe alongside Robert Babicz, Kolombo and Josh Wink. This springboard for success has led to over 250 production credits sitting proudly next to the Pysh name with an album and vinyl release for Einmusika high on a list of achievements. A regular for the label, other work has seen him featured on such heavyweights as Get Physical, Manjumasi and Steyoyoke.

A spirited Particles debut remixing Rudy UK in June 2018 quickly saw the release of the five-track, "Ballada" some three months later, as remixes from Matias Chilano and Christian Hornbostel added to a trio of impressive original tracks. Now returning, the Pysh remix of "Tao the King" takes the pulsating bassline of the original and uses it form the basis of a rhythmic groove foundation that anchors the tracks against a collage of panned shakers and closed hats. Building with consummate ease a chorus of melodies firmly rooted in the original make their presence felt at the breakdown. With clever production technique and a swathe of original production material Pysh has created a unique and impressive remix.

Remixes from Lucas Rossi and Pysh have continued to showcase "Life on the Moon" for Juan Deminicis.

Returning to Proton Music in October 2018, the "Audacity" EP represented Simos Tagias at his finest with two exceptional original tracks. Remixes from a Croatian superstar and Australian mainstay now continue the story.

An undisputed master of his craft, Petar Dundov has represented the underground dance scene with considerable aplomb for over 25 years. With his innovative sound design and unique sonic architecture, the Croatian has been at the vanguard of a genre-defying sound that perhaps identifies most closely to techno for Dundov himself. Melding rhythm and melody in distinctive patterns that have mesmerised global audiences at festivals such as, "I Love Techno" and "EXIT, and clubs including and Tokyo's "Womb" and Berlin's achingly cool "Berghain", work for a plethora of blue-chip imprints has appeared in tandem. Thus, Music Man, Systematic Recordings, Cocoon and Bedrock have all played host to Dundov's iconic sound.

Making his Proton Music debut, the Petar Dundov remix of the title track takes "Audacity" on a rolling groove inspired journey that pulsates gently on a wave of sumptuous pads and familiar motifs from Tagias' original. Evolving elegantly, a searing arpeggio filters into sonic range towards the mid-point before the track explodes in the second half with a huge analogue bassline and intricate percussive cadence full of clave groove. The resultant work is a glorious sonic collage of the highest order.

Gavin Griffin is an artist requiring no introduction to the Proton Music faithful. A producer whose trajectory continues to rise exponentially, his GMJ moniker has been closely linked to the Particles and Proton Music labels with a host of original music, both in solo and collaborative guises. An artist with an acute understanding of the underground music scene, a passion for his craft shines through with his "deep emotive electronic music". Indeed, some 300 production credits feature the GMJ name as his work continues to feed the catalogues of such celebrated imprints as Balkan Connection, Open Records and Hernan Cattaneo's Sudbeat.

A regular on Proton Music with several original EPs alongside fellow Australian, Matter, and a collaboration with iconic Hungarian producer, East Café, October 2017's "Sovereign Reality" saw GMJ make his solo debut with an EP of ambitious scope and immaculate production. Now returning after remixes of Dousk and Nocturna, the GMJ remix of "Elaza" epitomises GMJ's attention to detail as an immaculately polished rhythmic foundation plays host to an array of rich, haunting melodies. Signature motifs from Tagias' original make their presence felt in the second half as they blend seamlessly with GMJ's additional production material – the result is an interpretation that sees the Australian at the top of his artistic endeavours.

Few producers can match the meteoric rise of Kastis Torrau and as the Lithuanian producer returns to Proton Music, “Route 88” opens up with remixes from Belarusian and Dutch stars.

An artist with a 24-carat reputation plus skills and technique to match, Kastis Torrau has been at the cutting edge of underground dance music since he burst onto the scene with Donatello and Arnas D in 2011 – triumphant in the Sasha remix competition for “Cut Me Down”. A subsequent appearance on Last Night On Earth rubber-stamped Torrau’s global status as ‘rising star’, while a string of productions found their way on to Einmusika, Hope Recordings and Black Hole. A regular on Proton Music since August 2014, “Genesis” in collaboration with fellow countryman, Donatello, saw subsequent A-list remixes from Barry Jamieson and Darin Epsilon. Now returning, “Route 88” is characterised by a typically bristling bassline that drives the track relentlessly forward, wrapped around an immaculate and crisp rhythmic shell. Sublime melodic flourishes ripple across the stereo spectrum, building in the breakdown to introduce an exquisite counterpoint phrase before rhythm and bass hit hard again in the third movement.

A true star across his Belarusian home and far beyond its borders, Dmitry Molosh has seen his career skyrocket with his performances across Europe and South America in August 2019. Seeing his music feature on such illustrious labels as Replug, Sudbeat and Plattenbank, supported by such household names as Nick Warren, Guy J and Hernan Cattaneo, he featured on Particles with both original and remix production work in 2014 and ’15. Making his Proton Music debut and reinventing Kastis Torrau, the Dmitry Molosh remix opens with a chest-thumping kick before reprising the bassline so central the original. Before long, a swathe of new production material appears that introduces new melodic structures and phrases that reach their zenith at the breakdown with beautiful piano notes and sumptuous pad textures. Hitting its stride in the third movement, all elements combine to create a wonderful new “Route 88”.

Always in demand with their imaginative work for the likes of EIN2, Traum and Mango Alley, Huminal’s relationship with Particles and Proton Music has seen the Dutch duo feature with a host of original music. After a debut remixing Nikko.Z in June 2015, the twin-track “Knocking on the Sky” followed before “We Dwell in the Past” arrived with a bang a year later and “Macropsia” came into view in October 2018. Always at the cutting edge of sound design, The Huminal remix is as immaculate as it is elegant with a raft of intelligent production techniques that sees “Route 88” build with trademark momentum across the seven-minute track. A filtered and gated analogue bass pattern rises and falls throughout while a gloriously produced breakdown sequence ripples with a new melodic sequence that gently pulsates. Rhythmic and melodic groove then join forces again in the second half to devastating effect.

With a beautifully smooth and powerful track, Kastis Torrau drives effortlessly along “Route 88” with remixes from Dmitry Molosh and Huminal.

Mike Griego returns to Sudbeat with a sparkling three-tracker. The Argentinian studio wizard has been setting a high standard in recent times with tracks signed to Plattenbank, Replug and, of course, his additions to Hernan’s new Balance mix, Sunsetstrip. 

Opening the EP is ‘Sienna’. An upbeat analogue adventure, ‘Sienna’ begins with skippy hats and sonic fx to keep the attention high. Opening up melody and bass organically, the main break becomes an extension of the tracks journey rather than a cooling off point. Next up, ‘Drainer’ takes us on a more tribal path. Sparse percussions work together to create a feeling of moody detachment while choral voices add a distinctly calming clarity.  Finally, rounding out the EP is ‘Bismuth Crystals’ sees us delving into turn-of-the-century synth stylings and otherworldly pads. Keeping it deep and warm, the percussion is crisp and clean leaving the melodics to do all the work of storytelling.

Dan Baseley aka Orsen returns to Replug Records for a much anticipated follow-up to his ‘Driftwood’ EP. Having gotten 2019 underway with a well received remix of Antrim’s ‘Trip To Red’, the UK born, Austria based artist rounded out the summer season with a contribution to Hernan Cattaneo’s Beatport #1 Balance compilation. Most recently and perhaps the year’s highlight thus far was Dan’s ‘Ten’ collaboration with Replug boss Cid Inc. Regarded as one of 2019’s most sought after tracks, the joint production went on to top Beatport’s Progressive House singles chart and remains a favourite of the genre’s premiere tastemakers. Now returning to Replug for his first original project in over a year, Orsen presents his ‘Falling In’ artist showcase. 

Comprised of two tracks it's the peak time sensibility of the title cut which gets the EP underway. Sonically charged, it's rippling low end and buzzing rhythms converge in a ball of pulsating energy. The first act evolves with a veteran’s savvy, building waves of momentum as piercing stabs and vivid tones add to its fiery drive. Putting emotion at a premium, the narrative shifts as cascading motifs take centre stage during the main break, sitting atop melodious bass swells, before a nostalgic roll sparks a commanding drop and euphoric finale.

André Sobota and countryman Felipe Novaes deliver the truly transcendent “Prescience!” Its first remix departs Brazil in favor of Amsterdam’s outskirts. Nijkerk resident Alex O’Rion has long been regarded in progressive house. Following a chart-topping EP on Replug and rocking set at the label's ADE 2019 party, he graces the Colombian imprint for a second time. Like May's “Deep Dub Mix,” the Dutchman's revision evokes a symphonic, driving sound.
