A couple of years ago, when asking a friend what type of 'weird sax' music he was playing during his music studies, he mentioned a song called 'Mai' by the Japanese saxophonist, Ryo Noda. So I checked it out- it was odd. Unsettling syncopation, Eerie shapes and honks, dense with sus accents and anticipation- I had to sample it, this 'Weird Sax' as I often called it, making this mess of a composition you hear before you (the name deriving from 'mire' and 'Mai'.) Big shoutouts to the homie Nate, for introducing me to this haunting 'weird sax' in the first place 🎷🎷🎷 #stayweird
