Welcome back to another Transmission broadcasting from the HER 他 Transmission Mix Series, a weekly mix series showcasing incredible artists from around the world. For the 56th edition, we bring you a mix from Tokyo-based artist, Sakura Tsuruta.

Sakura Tsuruta is an electronic music and producer who continually pushed the boundaries of what these titles mean. Her unique DJ approach and style of interwinding rhythms and harmonies takes the listener to a dystopian world, one where they are always on your toes, longing for more.

Tsuruta released her debut single, ‘Dystopia’ in November 2019 on the Slovenia record label Bardo. As an artist, she continually lives up to the hype surrounding her in the underground music scene of Tokyo while constantly challenging stylist and creative boundaries while extending her global reach via international radio platforms such as HKCR.

POSSESSION PODCAST #180 - ELLEN ALLIEN UFO2021

As one of the most iconic artists of her generation, Ellen Allien embodies the core ethos of techno: a visionary who looks to the future for inspiration, carving out her own niche and presiding over an empire that has imbued techno, and dance music culture, with her unique DNA.
Her latest LP, AurAA, dropped in June 2020  featured a variety of hard-hitting, rave-inspired techno cuts, all delivered with Ellen’s idiosyncratic sound signature; high-octane beats and distinct use of vocals with irresistible rhythms and grooves. 

2020 presented an extremely difficult situation for Ellen and the rest of the global electronic music community as clubs and festivals were shut down in the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic. Unable to tour, she conceived the Balcony Streaming sessions, hosted on her balcony in Berlin. The livestreams allowed her to continue DJing and engaging with her fanbase, while also supporting music from a wide range of artists, new and old.
