Bonnie Li doesn’t mince words on hauntingly serene ‘I want you to die’.
Self-described as “It’s as if The Ronettes were doing a jam with The Kills in a movie by David Lynch”, the artist has looked to produce a contrast to the record’s lead single ‘Décroche’. By breaking away from the album’s general dynamic, she has been able to tap into a more sombre tone that highlights her more playful side.
 
With its pulsing bassline and sparsely used electronics, the atmosphere around ‘I want you to die’ has a tragic comic touch in a 60’s retro style. It’s more pop, rock’n’roll and fun than her previous productions. The single plays a honeyed tone ballad as her distinctly identifiable voice soars over the track with the tortured confidence of a woman in ecstasy. While the new single may not be strictly based on a true story, the sentiment within it rings true for almost everyone.

Bonnie Li - I Want You To Die

A reaction to how technology is so closely integrated into our lives. The piece 'colder' emerged out of a situation in which I became overwhelmed by the constancy of phones, messages, blue lights... everything seemed to stem from online, and like many others I felt suffocated by the unrelenting presence of it in our society.

So the lyrics of 'colder' focus on organic human interaction and the physical permanence of those moments in our surroundings (i.e) how we leave small traces of ourselves on walls, chairs, bedsheets; 

"should my fingerprint cling, then let the love within flow
  the white walls can sing; for if they witnessed sin, or bold intention..."

Sick of being artistically ripped off and relegated to the role of 'feminist poet girlfriend', corporationpop emerged from Northern beat poet Elise Hadgraft's late night drinking sessions in a suburban, Stockport kitchen.

Three years later she’s found herself sober, firmly over thirty and about to release her first collection with Verve Poetry Press.
