"I want comforting music, in all the senses it can entail", replies Paris-based resident Elise Kravets when asked what qualities she looks for in music. The first episode of her residency series "Pointillisme" comforts all our senses, as if we are floating on a soft cloud while listening. Taking inspiration from the art form, Elise compiles individual elements of sounds into one coherent auditory journey. Today's journey is heartfelt, slow and soft, featuring beautiful melodies from genres such as soft rock, library and soul. This one connects the dots.

Pointillisme w/ Elise Kravets

Elise Kravets is just in time for the summer with her newest collection of points. This latest mix, the second one for her remote residency, feels like the French summers she undoubtedly has experienced many times. It equally feels at home on a 60s cruise ship or a yacht as it does at a commune or a thrift store. The mix masterfully uses the lounge sounds of eras long gone mixed with folk to craft a mix that is equally relaxing and haunting. The melancholy produced never feels unsettling - instead, it creates a contemplative beauty. Pointillism describes the technique of this painting - the style is more akin to romanticism; a quaint landscape in the French heartland with long-abandoned and overgrown farmhouses. Sublime, exciting, full of stories untold, and emanating some kind of abstract sadness that quite quickly resolves into solace.
