Diopter, the musical project of Charleston-based artist Mike Morabito, delivers a dynamic fusion of alternative rock with atmospheric textures and introspective storytelling. As a multi-instrumentalist and producer, he crafts layered compositions featuring high-gain guitars, immersive soundscapes, and compelling vocals exploring personal evolution and human connection themes. Currently focusing on his musical journey after a successful career in optometry, Diopter performs all instruments except drums, bringing a perfectionist's attention to detail to every aspect of his creative process. At the same time, his latest release "Undeniable Truth" pushes boundaries with harder-hitting arrangements and deeper lyrical themes.

I've been writing original songs for a number of years now and recently started adding some acoustic covers, it gives me a nice feeling to know that other musicians and listeners give their time to listen to my humble offerings, so thanks to you all in advance for giving up your valuable time to check out my musical creations. 

My Sound cloud name "Heavenly Vine" was taken from the first song that I wrote called "Timeline" it seemed like the perfect way to conjure up an artist name for this great musical platform.

When I started writing music I took inspiration from my family as I wanted to leave some sort of legacy when I've shuffled off this mortal coil, what better legacy than a musical one.

All of the original music that I have created on this page has come from my heart and soul and it gives me a lot of satisfaction to know that someone might get some pleasure from my music, especially loved ones.

It's great to be part of this great musical community, we may be many minnows in a huge pond but together we make up one huge fish.

CARL GREEN IN PARTICULAR is a North East England solo artist making eccentric, colourful, alt-pop music. The first three EP's (Off Duty, Off Guard and Off Balance), all released in the space of six months in 2023, were recorded live and put out with scant regard for fashion or production. For 2025, the guitars have been ditched in favour of keys, percussion, found sounds and vocals, with the emphasis switching to something more ornate and immersive. The first four songs on here showcase this new sound and will be released in March 2025 as an EP "Mundanity and Mustard". An album will follow later in the year.

All of my original songs are recorded at home on a 24 track Tascam DP-24. I perform all the instruments and vocals with the help of an Alesis drum machine. My biggest musical influences come from the classic rock era, but I like to experiment with different styles of music. I have always been deeply passionate about music since I was very young. Somewhere I read that SoundCloud is the DIY of the music world.  Very true for most of us wannabe (famous) musicians.  For those who were lucky enough to spend years in an actual sound studio, maybe this is a slam dunk. For the rest of us, it's like being the Wright brothers before they fully understood the science behind aerodynamics much less get a machine to fly.

I have learned a lot in 2018 thru 2019 while playing at small, local venues.  It's a lot easier to sit back in a "recording studio".  I do put that in quotes since, for me, this is just a couple of microphones connected to a DAW which is connected to a computer with some multi-track software and some free plugins to enhance the finished product.  I believe there are about 5 unique disciplines to learn which include: playing an instrument, singing, doing both together, using a microphone, connecting with the audience.  I have much more respect for stage performers now, especially solo artists. Now, if one adds the discipline of recording engineer, well then, you have a well rounded musical background. 

I do hope that you enjoy some of my tunes.  I'm always happy to hear from listeners who have something meaningful to share, even when it is not particularly flattering or in someway odd.  I'll even try to answer any questions you may have.  Remember that you are never too old nor too young to create and share your music and/or share your knowledge.
