I wrote this song when I was 16 years old and had just begun learning to play guitar. The only reason I started to learn to play was because I had met this woman who had hitch hiked to West Yellowstone, Montana and was volunteering at the same place I was called The Buffalo Field Campaign. Well, she had brought a guitar with her, but needed to leave it there while she continued on traveling (She would be back for it). So, while she was gone, I became inspired to learn how to play her guitar and this was the song that came out of only knowing two chords that I had picked out by ear.

Wake Up

A tune I wrote about growing up in rundown shack in the woods that had mice and pack rats, no running water, and no electric. Living off of oatmeal and ramen. This song IS about the trauma we are born with and experience as chuildren, but ALSO about mindset and how it can cure us of our "so called traumas".

My name is Ella Wren Running-rabbit. I’m an enrolled member of the Muscogee(Creek) Nation and have been writing songs from my heart since I was just a child. Lyrics come naturally to me and I have learned to accompany myself with self taught guitar or piano. 

I grew up with heavy bluegrass and blues rock influence, and got to watch many talented musicians from my area like Leftover Salmon, Elephant Revival, Fruition, The Gasoline Lollipops, and many others blossom into local fame and all of them have inspired me to take the musical path more seriously. 

So here I am! A small town girl who was born at home and has lived off the grid for her whole life, way up in the mountains of Colorado. Here are my songs. Sometimes played with friends, which I will always mention. I express them proudly to you, so I hope you enjoy them and that they cause you to connect deeper to a part of yourself and/or the world around you.
