At the age of 23 this Dutch ‘folky’ gave up her job as a lawyer to leave to Ireland with nothing but a backpack and a guitar to explore the backgrounds of folk music.
One can now clearly hear back the Irish influences in her music, besides the typical songwriter sound of artists as Jewel, Tori Amos, Katie Melua, Kate Rusby, Joan Baez and many others. In Ireland HannekeLaura played at several editions of SligoLive, oneof the bigger international Irish festivals, staging artists like Josh Ritterand Martha Wainwright. Also in this period HannekeLaura accompanied wellknownIrish artist Perry Blake for a few acoustic shows in Holland and Ireland.

In 2012 she played support for Dutch songwriter Tim Akkerman, after which the two songwriters went back to Ireland for a mini tour together.

Highlight of 2013 was participation in the The Hague International Singer Songwriterfestival which created an amazing network worldwide. The same organization awarded HannekeLaura a THISSAWARD for ‘Best English Lyrics’, for her song ‘Echoes in the night’, which has resulted in a gig at Dutch open air festival Parkpop in 2014! And there is more to come...
