January’s edition comes from Leap Seconds. 

2025 is kicking off nicely with this exclusive mix from Laszlo Barany, aka Leap Seconds. Born in North East Hungary, and spending nearly a decade in the UK, Laszlo has now returned to his roots by moving back to Budapest, to explore and fulfil his creative side.

Leap Seconds’ style ranges from Deep House through to Progressive and Melodic House. He has released on labels such as The Purr, Bekool Records, Future Avenue and Massive Harmony. Certainly one to keep an eye on this year, he also has a forthcoming release on L O S T with his Bushido EP – featuring 2 original tracks that simply put, are beautiful. 

When looking for music for a mix, the key points he looks for are emotions and meaningful melodies. These are important aspects to him, and this really shows in this set he has put together for us.

Desde muy pequeño tuve una profunda atracción por la música. No podía entender las emociones tan complejas que me hacía sentir y, poco a poco, fui descifrando el acertijo: la música era una de las realidades más tangibles que podía entender.

Monty Eden, residente de la ciudad de México, se ha movido por diferentes ámbitos musicales. Teniendo la guitarra como su instrumento principal, ha logrado explorar diferentes géneros desde Blues y Rock Progresivo hasta música underground de “nightclubs”. Ahora, completamente dedicado a la música electrónica, ha logrado producir y firmar sus tracks originales en sellos maravillosos de clase mundial como Stellar Fountain, The Purr y The Rynth.

Arrancando en la escena mexicana desde 2018, Monty ha logrado gigs en grandes ciudades para la escena como mexico city, Querétaro, Playa del carmen y Puebla. De igual forma ha compartido Booth con DJ’s de la escena mexicana como Hot Tuneik y tocado en eventos de artistas internacionales como Kamilo Sanclemente y Rick Pier O'neil.

Sus tracks originales y DJ mixes tratan de crear una fusión balanceada entre sonidos electrónicos y análogo-orgánicos, incorporando elementos sutiles de instrumentos y vocales para nutrir al escucha. Con esto, Monty pretende atraer mentes que se atrevan a explorar el concepto energético, progresivo y con mucho groove de su música.

Vitaliy Dubree’s new album Ratio et Caritas finds the Chernogolovka-based producer stepping outside his familiar dub techno framework into a more exploratory electronic space. Known for his releases on Leipzig’s Insectorama, Dubree shifts focus here toward intelligent electronica with clear traces of Berlin School sequencing and electro-inspired rhythm design. The record explores the balance between structure and emotion, through precise sound design, pulsing low-end movement, and melodic phrasing that gradually builds narrative tension.

While still grounded in the spacious atmospheres and delay drenched textures of dub, Ratio et Caritas feels more introspective and narrative driven than Dubree’s earlier output. Each track carries subtle references to Soviet era sci-fi films, weaving archival fragments into the mix to create a sense of cultural memory and modest futurism. The result is an album that bridges studio precision with emotional resonance, less a functional dance record, more a focused study in texture, pacing, and the intersection of human and cosmic scale.
