Swatkat, DJ VIVA and KANA issue a zero ‘Gravity’ alert to all those who dare to dance in their hypnotic house vortex as they bring their new collaborative single to Smash Deep.

‘Gravity’ opens slowly with a dainty sequence of echoing keys conjuring an ever so slight sense of unease matched with curiosity. As the build emerges a snapping kick and piercing laser synth effects turn up the energy before an invigorating deep bass is unleashed. Completing the trio is one of China’s most exciting upcoming trance DJ/producers, KANA. Hit track ‘Believe’ soared to #1 on the official China TikTok playlist rocketing the single to over a million views in just a short matter of days. Pairing this with appearances at some of China’s most renowned clubs and festivals, the name KANA is one you’ll be sure to hear more of on the global dance circuit.

Ruddaz - Nyx

Nikko.Z's Dopamine White opens the month of April by welcoming Santiago Forteza to the label for his debut EP. Based in Buenos Aires, the Argentinean artist first emerged in 2018 with a contribution to Soundteller Records' popular 'Vibrant Vibeland' series. The next two years saw Santiago make great strides as he went on to appear on D-Formation's Beatfreak Recordings and Michael A's Genesis Music, while earning support from some of the underground's key tastemakers. With 2021 being a quiet year for Santiago, he now begins 2022 in impressive fashion with his Dopamine White debut entitled 'Three Butterflies'. 

Spread across four tracks, it's the rolling sounds of the title selection which get the EP underway. Dark and mysterious from the outset, its punchy low end and rippling rhythms provide momentous drive, while airy hooks and haunting atmospheres fill in the framework. Tranquil arps rise as the first act evolves, before an expansive break adds further shine to the lead, as a tension-filled drum roll cues a powerful drop and huge finale. The second selection 'Moon Light' surveys a similar design profile but with a further lean into hypnotic territory. Beginning with a warm mountainous groove, the piece evolves with buoyant rhythms, feathered percussion and a playful lead-line carrying into the main break. Meandering melodies and swirling textures melt down to a shimmering array of arps, as the interlude reaches a quiet calm, elevating emotion onwards to a classy drop and purring final movement. 

The EP's halfway point is marked by 'Regulus' which finds Santiago continuing to flex the groovy side of his repertoire. Bulbous beats and cascading bass stabs provide the foundation, while clattering percussion marries steam-like sweeps and rising tonal tension. Robotized vocals open the narrative further leading into the break, where kaleidoscopic arps eventually give way to a flurry of drums and a mesmerizing finale. The release concludes with 'Lucia' where Santiago explores a deeper more poignant narrative, without drifting too far from the mood set by its predecessors. Its full, rolling groove is perfectly carved with wavy contours and voluptuous swing, while spacious percussion and waves of cosmic artifacts further saturate your senses. Its melodic prowess proves irresistible as the break approaches, with spiralling arps taking centrestage and ultimately leading to the EP's most emotive moment, as glowing pads and heartfelt chord stabs unite for a calming apex. It rounds out an inspired collection of music from Santiago Forteza, making for an excellent debut on Nikko.Z's Dopamine White.

For our 57th release on Juicebox Music, we welcome back Christina Gavrilova, aka Forty Cats. The Russian artist's discography boasts of highly-respected associations, namely Lane 8's 'This Never Happened', Hernan Cattaneo's 'Sudbeat' and the LA-based powerhouse 'Monstercat', to name a few. Initially making her debut on our imprint in late 2021 with a 2-track collaborative EP featuring "Lagom" and "Symbols" with fellow country-men - Meeting Molly and Mango, Forty Cats continues her relationship with Juicebox Music through a single titled "Moscow Time" - a darker, twisted and energetic number.

Returning for their first remix duty on Juicebox Music is a power-collaboration between Da Luka and Jorgio Kioris. We were honoured to have represented the Albanian and Greek duo's incredible musical chemistry in early 2021 via their third single together "Karma". While the two continue their individual output, they've reserved the collaboration for special occasions, such as this. Da Luka and Jorgio Kioris' version of Forty Cat's "Moscow Time" features a simple yet highly infectious peak-time groove that exposes parts of the original during the breakdown in an almost ode sort of manner.

Making his much awaited return to Juicebox Music is our label manager - Greg Tomaz. The Indian artist initially debuted on our imprint in late 2016 with his 2-track EP "Alchemic Substance" and subsequently returned in 2021 with "The Thing About Life", an electronica piece for Chapter 2 of our 'Tales of Time' series. Constantly experimenting with his style, he's had his music featured on Jelly For The Babies 'One of A Kind', Norman H's 'Stripped Digital' + Erich Von Kollar, MiraculuM and Greyloop's 'Stellar Fountain'. Greg Tomaz flips the switch for his interpretation of Forty Cat's "Moscow Time", delivering a powerful driving remix with an unexpected twist towards the 3rd act that's sure to create a special moment on the dance-floor.
