Techno Tales  by Marksman: 2022 Melodic Progressive House & Techno

‘Eclipse’ is a dark melodic techno track infused with Spanish Flamenco guitar. An interesting combination some might say - well let me tell you why.. 👀

I’ve always been fascinated by Spanish guitar because my mother used to play it very well. Unfortunately, she died when I was very small, and so I never got to hear her play 🥺

Her guitar used to sit in one of the rooms in my house collecting dust. I’d often go look at it, as it is probably the only thing I have to remember her by.
I then start learning to play the guitar myself, but I was focused mostly on playing rock and metal (so much angst) on an electric guitar and got to a pretty high level on it

One day I decided to give the flamenco style a try and picked up my mother’s guitar and started strumming away. I was hooked… 💪
I began to learn more about the style, strumming, and harmonies and found that both styles were very closely linked to the metal I was used to playing (ie. all mostly written in the Phrygian mode) 👌

Now a lot of my productions incorporate flamenco in some way or another, either the instrumentation or harmonies themselves 💃

Anyway, that’s the story behind the track - it’s about how even when the times appear dark there’s always some light at the end of the tunnel 🌙

Deepwibe Underground welcomes Dmitry Molosh back to the label for a new single. The Belarus based artist made his first appearance on the Estonian imprint in January with a well received remix of 'Elysium' by The Cobb. As one of the years biggest progressive house tracks, the remix enjoyed a one month long stay atop Beatport's Progressive House Hype Chart and a near eight month long run in the Top 100. Now considered one of the label's primary artists, Dmitry has gone on to deliver two singles and another remix over the last nine months. With a collaborative project with Cid Inc recently released on Hernan Cattaneo's Sudbeat Music, Dmitry now returns to Deepwibe Underground with a new single entitled 'Obsession', alongside a remix from Ewan Rill & K Loveski.

On January 29th, 2022, I was honored to be on the opening roster for UK Trance legend and true pioneer from the very early days of Trance music, JOHN OO FLEMING, at Ora Nightclub, Seattle. This was another one of those "Pinch me, am I dreaming?" moments for me haha, as I have been a fan of JOOF since way back at the beginning when I first started to discover this world of Trance and Progressive, so it was such a thrill to be able to warm up the CDJ's for this incredibly talented individual, whom has truly stood the test of time, and has contributed so much to the Trance scene over the past couple decades. Anyway, it's been a while for me, with COVID going around I haven't been going out to many shows, and haven't had an opportunity to play live since the Sunny LAX show back in October. So, on top of the thrill of seeing John OO perform live for the first time ever, it was just so great to see so many familiar, smiling faces and friends having a good time on the dancefloor, and to finally start feeling alive again. I loaded this set up with some gems that I have been listening to and collecting over the past few months, and it was such a fun set to play.
