"Expect the unexpected," they say, and it should come as a surprise to many as we warmly welcome to the Kompakt family one of America's most celebrated producers in dance music, John Tejada! Born in Austria, he relocated to his current home of Los Angeles at the age of 8 and, following a brief career in hip-hop, found his home in electronic music. If you're even the slightest fan of the genre, you'll be hard-pressed not to have heard his music over his decade+-long career. Whether on his own Palette Recordings, Poker Flat, or Plug Research — plus a Fabric Mix CD under his belt, it's thanks to a steady stream of massive releases (think "Mono On Mono" and "Sweat On The Walls") that he remains a mainstay in the charts of Beatport and uncountable DJs. He is also half of the long-standing City Centre Offices act, I'm Not A Gun (together with Takeshi Nishimoto). "I wanted to experiment with some longer phrases again and to step away from the analog sequencers more and get back to using my hands to create the melodies. I also feel for the first time in quite a while I've made an album of songs for myself without worrying about the usual pressures." – John Tejada Kompakt presents his extraordinary new album "Parabolas". Resident Advisor called Tejada "one of the most notoriously meticulous producers around" — an unmistakable proof lies within these recordings. Genres collide and combine with an unraveling of blissful layers on "Parabolas". The opening track, "Farther &amp; Fainter," offers a musicality today's techno and house often lack — an accomplishment that resonates throughout the album. Tracks such as "Subdivided" and "Unstable Condition" reflect the wondrousness of Aphex Twin's Polygon Window project, something that could only be reanimated and brought to 2011's standards by Tejada. "Parabolas" is a true highlight in John Tejada's deep catalogue. Bold words indeed for a producer who is known for unexpected variation and tremendous musical imagination.

Three years have passed since the last Moon Harbour Inhouse Compilation came out. Now “Moon Harbour Inhouse Vol.4” is on its way. In accordance with the tried and tested concept, this release also showcases the work of current Moon Harbour artists. In addition to exclusive tracks by Matthias Tanzmann, Luna City Express, Dan Drastic, Ekkohaus, Martinez, Italoboyz, Andy Catana and Blind Minded, special guests like Reboot, Guido Schneider, Boris Werner and tINI & Marc Antona are also represented on this compilation. The list of artists clearly demonstrates that Moon Harbour has developed into a label with international scope and appeal. This sampler was compiled and mixed by Dan Drastic, who has been part of Moon Harbour’s artist roster for more than seven years and recently released his “Noodle Stories EP” on our label. He regularly hosts the Moon Harbour Nights at the Leipzig club Distillery and is one of the most active Moon Harbour deejays, together with Matthias Tanzmann and Luna City Express.  

The musical styles on “Moon Harbour Inhouse Vol. 4” range from the deep house of Luna City Express and Ekkohaus to the reduced groovy tech house á la tINI & Marc Antona, Andy Catana and Boris Werner and the floor fillers by Reboot and Dan Drastic. In this sense the selection of tracks mirrors the current breadth of styles represented by the label in its 12th year.     

Since the third Inhouse Compilation, a lot has happened at Moon Harbour. In addition to the releases of the albums “Hello From Planet Earth” by Luna City Express (2009) and “Paradigm Shift” by Martinez (2010), the tenth anniversary of the label was celebrated with gusto in 2010 complete with the compilation and club tour, “Ten Years Of Moon Harbour”. The year 2010 also marked the birth of the monthly Moon Harbour Radio Show. Luna City Express and Dan Drastic have been taking turns producing this show, which has already had more than 25 editions.         

The year 2011 marked another special occasion: our sister label Cargo Edition celebrated its fifth anniversary with the compilation “Five Years Of Cargo Edition”. In the summer of 2011, Moon Harbour released the compilation CD “Circoloco @ DC10 Ibiza - The Next Level”, mixed by Matthias Tanzmann and Davide Squillace. This year started off with yet another important step: the launch of Moon Harbour Digital. So far this new digital platform has seen releases by Arado & Marco Faraone, ONNO and Nil By Mouth.   
To celebrate the release of “Moon Harbour Inhouse Vol.4”, there will be numerous record release showcases.

For close to 15 years, Gui Boratto has been a core member of the Kompakt family and remains one of Brazil’s most cherished electronic music producers of our generation. His work over the years includes five studio albums, countless EP releases and remixes for the likes of Massive Attack, Pet Shop Boys and Paul Simon to name a few. Beyond that he operates his own label imprint D.O.C. which houses fledgling and established Brazlilan acts such as L_CIO, Shadow Movement and others.

Gui Boratto and Kompakt proudly inaugurate a new live recorded set series on the label entitled “Backstage”. A live set recorded in June during the peak of lockdown in his Sao Paulo studio, Gui Boratto that brings forward new life to his most classic recordings along with new, unreleased music in a seamless live mix. His live shows have been a huge part of what fans have come to love from this charismatic producer and “Backstage” is here to exemplify that.

“Backstage” coincides with the release of his new EP for Kompakt entitled “Wake Up” – of which all three of the tracks appear in the live mix. Gui Boratto’s signature style is back and bolder than ever. His classic debut “Chromophobia” has an inescapable essence that rings through the title track Wake Up. His wife Luciana Villanova returns on vocals to caress us on a cloudy tom tom driven breakdown of a beat. “Beksy’s” brings that mid-tempo energy Gui is so good immersed in dramatic synth stabs that make it heavenly sounding. “Endless Holidays” is a disco-house tinged affair that relies on a killer bass line to move clap happy hi hats and a duelling guitar to unpronounced levels of positiveness.

We got lucky with this release. With remix contests you know you'll end up with loads of bastard lemons to wade through, there's zero guarantee that ANY of them will be even remotely listenable, and all of the non-winning entrants will hate you. Our job wasn't easy. We looked for originality, excitement, and energy. We found it. Out of the 303 remixes we received of Zombie Nation's 'Level,' we were handed some fantastic tracks that we are proud to release. 

OUR WINNING ENTRY: 

BUTTTRIXXX
This young Australian delivered a killer, distorted, swag-filled mid-tempo bomb. We loved the original vibe: pitched down vocals made into witchy pads spread over banging lo-fi beats. This got everyone at Turbo HQ's head nodding in unanimous support.


TOO GOOD TO IGNORE (in no particular order):

READYBOY
Off-the-rails chunky beats capture the MPC loving funk of Zombie Nation without resorting to any obvious tricks. We can't hear much of the original here, but what matters more is that this is dope.

DORTMUND
He may or may not be German, but you can feel a cool, precise talent at work here. He chose elements from the original wisely and complimented them with a simple, strong lead. Not a peak time performer, but a good remix.

TWOB
Stripped down and tailored for club play. Not re-inventing the party wheel but we know it would work. 

GIULIANO RASCAN
Probably our runner-up, this is a MASSIVE EDM monster. We're talking Avicii-level, Ultra-festival setlist, heart hand pumping, ecstasy inducing, hiss blasting and ITALIAN. This much positive dance-floor energy can make us a bit uncomfortable, but in the end we couldn't deny Giuliano took it to the next LEVEL. BAAAAM.

Anja Schneider is the mobilee records founder, broadcaster, internationally renowned DJ andproducer once labeled a "perpetual motion machine", and one of the hardest working individuals in the business.
Anja’s 2008 opus, her debut album Beyond the Valley, was released to critical acclaim, with tracks "Belize" and “Safari” dominating Charts and dancefloors worldwide. She followed this with Deseo, mobilee’s 50th release, and a pair of storming tech house EPs in 2010, iThought and Pushin’ plus a few remixes. “Imagination ”, a co-production
between Anja and And.Id, featured on Heidi’s Jackathon compilation for Get Physical Music in early 2011 was her last output. After hiding in the studio for a while with the new label mate Nyma she is finally back on mobilee with her new ep „Diagonal“.

Personality wise, he is a quiet achiever! Behind the decks he will and has mixed it with the best… Jeremy J has the reputation as the DJ’s DJ. A near perfect ear, a brand of house, tech, breaks, hip hop, disco, acid jazz and funk that defines great music and the seamless way of compiling tracks together creating the ultimate party vibe. His diversity to play amongst any DJ or act amongst these genres is second to none.

Residing in Cairns, Jeremy J burst onto the national scene through the mix ‘If It Aint Broken Don’t Fix It’ through AKA/Triple J and his own compilation release (House2Hard Vol 2), tours and role with GeneratioNext. 

Holding residencies with every major club and bar in Cairns and surrounding areas, playing or instigating festivals, supporting and bringing a plethora of acts to North Queensland and across the country, for a regional town his career has been in a class of its own. Having been voted #1 in the North Queensland Elec:Tropica DJ award poll, industry achievement awards, events and having won first place in a national mix up competition via Triple J, Jeremy has earned his right place amongst the upper echelon. Hosting and guest appearances on numerous radio stations, managing international DJ tours, setting up his DJ school, label management, retail outlet and hub for DJ’s in Tastey… is there anything he hasn’t had his fingers in?
