Against the Sky marks the third release from Brad Deschamps (anthéne) and Ian Hawgood's (Folk Reels) Rosales project, with previous releases on Archives and their own Home Normal and Polar Seas labels. Against the Sky features Brad and Ian's exquisite ambient guitar journeys, and is lushly mastered by Ian on reel-to-reel tape.

Rosales - Words Escape

Deep Electronics celebrates it's 10 anniversary and for this occassion I started this compilation to invite artists to express there music again in all it's diversity in genres. New artists and artists that where there at the very beginning of the podcast and label. My intention was always to combine music and photography. Later on digital renders where the face of almost every set and release.

Deep Electronics was and is always a podcast for producers and dj's to get the exposure they need and deserve. You always have to start somewhere! I hope I could contributed a little bit in there long and amazing road for them in music.

I would like to thank you all producers, dj's, followers and people that just listen. Without you this 10 years wasn't be possibel!

I hope you enjoy this release as much I did in compiling it.

I don't remember who first suggested we put an album together, but as a long time Jet Jaguar fan (as in since the 90s) and someone who was lucky enough to appear on one of Michael's Angry Rabbit releases, I jumped at the chance. We had just recently finished our trio collaboration with Tim Koch (Takamu) when Michael's health forced him into a series of weekly hospital visits. To keep him engaged while waiting around in the hospital, I sent him files of recordings I had made of guitars or synths played through experimental effects pedals. Michael took these amorphous and chaotic sounds and used his laptop DAW to put them in a sequence that made sense. He also kept noticing that the boxes of rubber gloves in the hospital were labeled “small blue micro textured”. - Adrien

I’d also been into Adrien’s music since the 90s, when I picked up this mysterious compilation Highways Over Gardens in a record shop in Australia. I’ve always been the type of electronic music maker who stitches things together on screens and Adrien’s playing brings out ideas I’d never have. So it was a great and welcome diversion to take his starting points and focus on details and textures. And yes, with the hospital setting, there were bad jokes about “sick beats” in the online chat. Listening back now I don't connect the sounds with that time and if anything I find it mostly very peaceful and chilled. The title phrase made me smile, it seemed a weird combo of things out of context. Can you have a small shade of blue? Are we talking about something both small and micro? Each of the words suited the music and something about the slightly wonky combination seemed right as well. - Michael

KapTep is the ambient\drone project from US-based producer Derek Carter. (Sullivan, Illinois). His compositions are a blend of synth layers, loops, effects, and field recordings with the intent of creating an ever-evolving soundscape. The concept behind the KapTep project was to try creating the style of emotional music that he wanted to listen to himself. Every track should evoke an emotion to which you can write your own story. Rain, static hiss, pops, and crackles are often the foundation layered under melancholy, dreamy compositions.
