Jesse Somfay's debut output as Borealis has been the artistic backbone of our label's birth 3 years ago while his sophomore album released last month is a good indicator of our eclectic expansion and overall shift in sound. The latest instalment in the successful Disco-House-Edit imprint „Black Jukebox”, run Exploited label boss Shir Khan, features 4 heavy vinyl jams. The first two come from the hands of Exploited's very own Mickey, one from the Mekanism and the fourth track is accredited to Matpat. 

Shir Khan has made sure that this 9th edition in his sublabel is as powerful as those that came before it. The cut consists of cutting edge material by all three artists, with Mickey kicking the record of with two undeniably funky productions: 'Holding Hands' and 'LA Anyway'. Black Jukebox .09 will be released on August 25th (The digital release will only feature the Mickey tracks).

Six months after their last installment, Shir Khan and Exploited drop another hot to trot collection of disco edits. As usual, there's much to excite, beginning with the familiar guitar solos, Rhodes keys and dub disco pulse of Antilope's "Singing Ghost" rework. Death On The Balcony keep up the reverb and delay-laden dub disco theme on "Addict For Your Love", whose rubbery groove, twinkling pianos and heady vocals have been expertly rearranged to fit house dancefloors. Finally, Matpat go loop crazy on the thumping disco house cut "Only You" which sits somewhere between Rahaan and Soundstream. Excellent stuff all round.

Solid Steel (3rd April) There's a definite Mercury Prize feel to this week, with both guests up for the title last year. 

In Hour 1 it's Young Fathers bombing the airwaves to celebrate the release of their new album 'White Men Are Black Men Too' which is out on 6th April on Big Dada. What can we expect in their mix? We'll leave it to them to explain;

Highlights are…  Ghost Writerz - one of them tunes that pop up and you hope that there will be more with the same kind of inventiveness, that the next one won’t just go to straight up Grime or whatever.

Timbaland - still unbeaten when it comes to beats.
Soko - French singer, really honest on this, great lyrics.
