from the audience, and the crowd was onstage.
No one knew how they got there,

There was nothing I could do.

Stage right, the director walks in, he says:
“This is how all performances end.”

I didn’t know what to do.
I have always been singing for you.
Like a child at the zoo,

Then the crowd started thinning.
The lights turned red, the theater dimming.
All at once, Sabrina Carpenter
dressed as a mailman delivered my mail.
Then she kissed me on the cheek.

It was a letter from my childhood pet. It said:
“I died a painful death.”
Underneath was your business card, and I wept.
I’ve been scared since the day that we met.

Like the wood in a fire,
