The 150 release on Markantonios AnalyticTrail marks a special return of belgiums Duo and brothers Filterheads to the imprint with three trackers EP called Radiance.

Filterheads already released on the label two EPs, their first one was a collaboration with Gaston Zani under the name Subconscious back in 2018. The second one was collaboration with Lowerzone under the name Hard Wax back in 2020. For almost two decades now, Filterheads have also releases on the likes of Toolroom, POPOFs Form, UMEKs 1605, Unrilis, Carl Coxs Intec and Unity Records among others.

Radiance opens the EP with a hard hitting beats, splashing percussions. Mechanics comes second on the list and gives more aggressiveness to the selection. Retrospective closes the EP with a dark and euphoric break followed by a big bass and pounding kick.

Pascal Nuzzo “Kaneda” - Nuzzo brings his underground influences to good use here, recalling styles like French Filter House and 90's techno and dark progressive, which have played an important role in his development as an artist. Nuzzo takes his cycle of beating metallic drums to a new experimental high here before the sound of a whirling car or spaceship rushes by, teasing at the rising tide of the chorus as it starts up with sizzling synthesizers to back it up. The hammering, cracking beat that follows plays well with the previous sounds as they turn to more blunted, deeper tones. Nuzzo won’t settle here either, though, when a chattering joins in that bridges through the chorus to a quickened pace. This surprise could be jarring if they didn’t dovetail so well into each other, and the pulse stays with us to the end. With tracks like this, Pascal proves himself as an artist to watch for, a new star that has only just started to spread his light.

Dekmantel is thrilled to announce an exciting new project by the impeccable Robert Hood. Over the course of three EPs and one album, the Detroit legend presents Paradygm Shift. The first EP is scheduled for the 22th of February. Hood: ‘‘The idea behind Paradygm Shift is similar to a shift in our focus. We can become so complacent; we are so comfortable with our surroundings, I think this is the time for electronic music to find a new mindset.’’

Hood is thrilled about his new adventure on the Dekmantel label: ‘‘I’m glad to partner up with them on this project. I have a very good relationship with Dekmantel. I remember the first time I met them, how laidback these guys were. I performed in this illegal bunker, a dj-set, and the atmosphere was just amazing, awesome and open-minded. It seems like a natural progression to collaborate on this project now. We share a mutual responsibility not to let fall things just in place, but to make things happen. Dekmantel is about making things happen, and so like minds think alike.’’    

Inspiration for Paradygm Shift came from a shift in Hood’s own focus. ‘‘I have been busy with my Floorplan alias and reintroducing Monobox over the years, but at the same time I felt it necessary to reiterate Robert Hood as an electronic music artist who is bringing minimalism back in the forefront, and not to get lost in the melody. I want to get back to the simple repetitive programming that I’m known for, and to me it was returning to that, but shifting the listeners’ focus and not staying on this plane like we are used to.” 

This approach clearly manifests on Paradygm Shift Volume 1, the first EP that kicks of the series with great anticipation. Two tracks that have ‘Rob Hood’ written all over it: minimalistic beasts, bursting from energy and meticulously crafted by the hand of a master producer. ‘Form’ slowly but surely creeps upon you, a slow starter, but in the end the techno funk-finesse will roar like a Detroit car engine. ‘Lockers’ follows a slightly more melodic path, keeping the momentum by delivering body shaking, pulsating techno, deep and timeless just the way we like it.

It only took 20+ years of being top of the Swedish electronic music game for Pär Grindvik to launch his first ever full length release. Isle of Real features ten tracks which traverse a landscape of techno, experimental, electronica and ambient splendour. Written whilst on the road for several months on end, renowned producer and Stockholm LTD label head Grindvik took to hotel rooms and plane journeys for his nomadic production sessions – later polishing, recording and perfecting these demos in Peder Mannerfelt's Stockholm studio.

Throughout the album, Grindvik demonstrates his talent for finding the melodic soul in mechanical sounds. Isle of Real runs with a theme of spaces once inhabited, long since abandoned and reclaimed by the creep of nature. To us, "Headland" encompasses this most coherently and impressively. Built upon timeless techno blueprints, "Headland" aims to haunt with its eerie reverbed bells lingering far beyond its final notes.

A tale unravels in Isle of Real's plains and peaks. A long overdue LP debut from one of electronic music's key storytellers. Catch the pre-order of the double 12", out on May 24th via Grindvik's own Stockholm LTD label.
