Very cool. I like the tempo changes, guitar and piano together....effects....love the lyrics....then, at about 2:11, an unplugged type segment....strong vocal....looking forward to hearing more of your songs....nice ending too :)

It is with great pleasure and happiness that we can present, after a very long time, a new collaboration with my dear friend Hilario and me. Struggling and fighting against many setbacks  which held him from making music, now Hilario found back the power to give it all, resulting in an old school rocker on the instrument he controls so well.

We hope you will enjoy this track the same as we did making this piece which Hilario initiated from an one take improvisation, handling the keys and knobs as like he never has been away.

Its About Time

I never met my paternal grandfather.  He died from a brain tumor at the age of 57, before I was born.  My father never talked about it, but my mother did.  In recounting my grandfather's illness and the family history she knew, she told me that when my grandfather was very young, he and his friends would go play in a number of nearby orange groves. Those groves were beautiful, spacious, and the oranges were free for the taking. Unfortunately, they were also heavily sprayed with pesticides during that time period. My mother believed that my grandfather's exposure to those pesticides most likely played a role in the cancer that took his life many years later.  At the time of his death, there was little attention paid to the notion that pesticide exposure could impact one’s health and longevity, so there was no discussion of the matter when he became ill.

I have often thought about his life, as well as my mother's words. While we'll never completely know what happened, we'll remember my grandfather and this chapter in his story.  There are lessons to be learned from it, as well as similar stories from others.  Our environment should not be harmful to health but should protect it.

This improvised composition was written to remember my grandfather's story.

il y a des silences que seule la musique peut combler. Pour moi, l'art est souvent un refuge face à la douleur des absences, ces déchirures que la vie nous impose. Récemment, la perte de ma sœur aînée, pilier d'une famille de neuf enfants, a réveillé en moi des échos d'une enfance révolue, celle des champs d'arachide baignés par le soleil de la forêt équatoriale.
Là-bas, un oiseau, l'ODOUI, rythmait nos journées de labeur. Et moi, petit garçon insouciant, je dansais parfois au milieu des plantations, au grand dam de ma grand-mère. Elle me surnommait tendrement "Kéh he hé he" (mon NDANE, ce nom murmuré avec affection, celui qui résonne sur le Nkul, notre tambour ancestral, celui qui guide les pas perdus dans l'immensité verte).
"Es-tu devenu BIZUBUK ?", me demandait-elle en riant, car seul cet être dansait autrefois sans le battement du tam-tam. Et elle chantait cette mélopée douce et pleine de sens :
