I've been meaning to spend some time "diving" into the Bass Station II.  I was up all night with a stomach ache, so finally developed a patch on the couch and standing at my synth rack.  I was kinda thinking of rain, mallet tonal percussion, and physical modeling synthesis while making this.  I should have recorded this with video to better document and learn the process, but at least got audio of re-exploring patch parameters.  

This was recorded in Reaper via my Scarlett 18i20 with no processing.  The most interesting section was clipped for export.  This focuses on the Mixer section, exploring each oscillator, and the Filter modulation, oh ya, and messing with Oscillator 2 Pulse Width (LFO 2).  The Arp is Random with BPM: 74 and Rhythm: 11.  Pretty sure the notes are F# (G?) A Bb D E F# (threw a bunch in the Arp, again video would help...).

1-4 Tube preamps (without phantom power, dynamics and ribbons)
5-8 Non-tube preamps (with phantom power, condensers)

Spent a lot of time trouble shooting noise 
Recorded samples with noise through Art Preamps  
Then the Scarlett preamps (same order, no noise)
And again through the Art Tube Opto 8 with clock sync set to ADAT 
Solved noise issues 
(Was set to 48k to match Scarlett, but that isn’t synced via ADAT)

Only processing was increased gain in reaper (applied to all samples within a set equally).   

Not the most standardized test.  
Difference between Art and Scarlett interesting.  Also hope examples of ADAT pops/clicks inspire something somewhere.

Setup the Audarium to get a groove

Decided to Improv jam on ROAT and KMD 
Routed through Ch. 2 and 3 of KOMA box 
(into Ch.1 of Audarium as usual)
Did more experimental mixing than usual with the ROAT in the mix 
Brought channels in and out 
Also remembered to use the laser pointer with the Jar Drone !!!
(In and out, ended with some laser pointer)

Audarium Jam Initial Setup Pattern (Pre-Improv w/ ROAT, Monotron, mixing), March 31, 2025

Description: 
Setting up SynthOps station 
Needed to test a 3.5mm TRS plug to dual jack cable  
Thought it was a Breakout/Insert cable (dual mono)
But, turns out actually a Y-cable/Splitter (dual stereo, duplicates!) 
Don’t use!  Labled! 
I also maybe did not realize how confused I could be about these cables… 

Did a quick little jam and happy enough with it to record.
Just drumming on box with fingers. 
Settings same as in photo. 
 
Also interesting to play with stereo field in Reaper 
Recorded Left/Right as separate mono tracks 
Panning 100% Left/Right is same as Wingie2 output with headphones 
Centered muddier, loose definition.  
Definitely do prefer Wingie2 wide, can hear more sounds produced by resonator
Curious how relates to physical modeling design… ?

Got synths (Uno, Micron, BSII) setup with CME, Nexus, mixer (no Aux FX yet…)
Got a jam onto the Bsstl MIDI Looper (wonky, don’t really know how to use yet…)
Solo with MF (no MIDI connection yet…)
Liked enough to record into Reaper (audio only, no MIDI, despite CME, forgot/don’t know yet…)
~1:30 Micron glitches and changes patches to a drum sample…?
I try to role with it and transition
Makes some kinda cool drum sounds, solo channel for sampling (kinda want to chop up and turn into kit and add drums…)
Tried to keep soloing, kinda lost the plot, Micron glitched some more and started playing a “pattern” (beat and accompaniment), might have been my fault messing with it… 
Exported clip (best part of solo and glitch) 

Oh, and is there a stuck MIDI note somewhere? Sounds like one constant drone in the the mix… BSII?
