Born and raised in downtown Manhattan, Samuel was surrounded by musical influences from an early age. His mother, Linda Langford, was one-half of 70's feminist folk group, Jade and Sarsaparilla, while his father was a student of experimental composer and pioneer, John Cage. Even his grandfather, Manny Albam, was a noted jazz arranger and friend of Dizzy Gillespie. With a passion for music as part of the family bedrock, Samuel’s ability to write and perform compelling tunes for the masses is no less than a natural extension of his musical heritage.

A distinct product of his urban environment, Samuel pulls from a broad spectrum of musical genres to create a sound all his own. Upon teaming up with B-Roc and JPatt, the powerhouse duo behind The Knocks, Samuel kicked off his career as one of the brightest new rising stars. They met at a time when all were eager to expand their musical endeavors and their teamwork quickly led to Samuel being signed to Columbia Records in 2009 and the release of his critically acclaimed single "I Heart NY" soon thereafter. The threesome's opposing backgrounds enabled them to meld styles and create music that wasn't genre-specific; which results in the innovative sounds that can be heard on Samuel’s debut album, Trains To Wanderland. 

Just a few years after Wanderland, Samuel is now in the producer seat. He is still writing and editing his own songs, as well as for others — including artists such as Alex Winston and Tempogeist.  His most recent work ,"I'll Drink To That," was recorded by Warner Bros. recording artist Outasight and is currently the kick-off album single already receiving airplay on Z100. With experience DJing open format, and a number of successful remixes (including R. Kelly, Christina Aguilera and the official RCA remix for Usher’s “Numb”), Samuel has also created a name for himself DJ’ing parties at night clubs like Mulberry Project and The Jane. He is also currently assisting DJ’s, like Mia Moretti and DJ Equal, with engineering and production in studio mix work. Not losing sight of his musicianship and with the help of his second home at HeavyRoc Music Studios, Samuel has multiple on-going original projects — both writing and producing — that include One Room, Songs, The Knocks, Alex Winston and his own solo venture, Samuel.
