Holy heck, the difference three years can make.... I wasn't expecting this to come out as differently as it did in comparison to my original cover of it back in 2017, but boy howdy, I'm not complaining at the improvement.

I was sixteen with a borrowed guitar,
Stumbling through "Landslide" in some coffeehouse bar.
Every note cracked, yet some would clap,
one even asked when I'd be back
blushed so back then under the spotlight, all warm and unclear,
Dreamt of a stage where the whole world would hear...(whole world) would hear.
But the auditions got colder, the rooms grew too bright,
Singing for strangers who’d shrug, "Not tonight." (Not) tonight."
I packed up my heart, took the train back alone,
Humming a new melody, making it my own.
Then it was demos in closets at dawn,
Pitching my soul just to keep moving on.
Labels said "Pretty," but never "You’re it,"
Publishers nodded but never committed.
I wore out my soles on the sidewalks of doubt,
Every "almost" a door swinging... always locked out (always) locked out
Oh, the auditions got louder, the stakes cut like knives,
playing for crumbs just to stay alive
But the songs in my pocket kept burning to be set free
Screaming, "You’re music Matters , as I learned to trust me...(learned to) trust me...'
Then one night I quit keeping score,
Tore up the cover song set list by the door.
The industry’s ghost couldn’t haunt me.. no more—no more—
I chose my music (my music), not their pop hit war.
Now it’s just me in the glow of the screen,
Uploading my heart to the silence ...unseen.
No red velvet curtains, no A&R glare,
Just the hum of the strings and the cold midnight air.
But the numbers don’t matter like they did back then,
‘Cause the woman in the mirror’s singing just for her again...(just for) her again.
I have my flops and the tracks that won’t hit
Tunes that don’t glitter but still make you think a bit...
‘Cause the spotlight can fade, but the music never ends—
tonight maybe write a new 
dream this.. is.. the ..one...dream and pretend....
