The project “Embroiderers of actuality” proposes an artwork, which involves an exchange between the local population and the artists using art texts, poetry and literature, written by local women (contemporary and historical). The artwork becomes a tool with which to trigger a questioning process for the local community and for the artists. This project aims at questioning the role of art in political and social change and should create a situation in which the local population is directly confronted with art.
“Embroiderers of Actuality” is about “resistance”, which means for us to propose and to follow another model than what we are used to following: to give women a public voice, giving a voice to the feminine in a world where the masculine dominates (we don’t speak about male or female in terms of gender, but about feminine and masculine: both parts, that should coexist within every human being).
Resistance is for us to exchange texts and ideas, to initiate a debate on art and literature within in art spaces.
