Campout Mix Series: Furtive

The essence of psychedelia is disrupting expectations and altering perspectives - what better place to do so than in the vortex of the rave? 

It was an incredible honor to be a part of the inaugural edition of System Activate. The entire weekender campout rave was an exercise in intentionality, a generous labor of love with visionary execution. Anchored by a single stage with a pristine sound system, brought to life by a seasoned, die-hard-DIY team, and animated with an incredibly unpretentious, open-minded, and imaginative crowd of ravers, System Active was truly a novel, eye-opening adventure that struck real sparks of psychedelic inspiration. 

I believe this is one of the finest sets that I have played to date. Completely at ease in the booth, I played fervently and completely from the heart. This is a totally honest and unrestrained rendition of my creative screwball sensibilities as a DJ, conjuring a propulsive rhythmic tunnel and peeling away into moments of whiplash slack-jawed surprises. Rooted in wormhole-traversing techno but stretching well into psychedelic sludge, shameless sentimentality, poignant lessons, heaving bass-weight, and references to formative personally-precious material, this is a completely earnest translation of my psyche that also incorporates the work of friends and peers. 

It was a deep joy to be in the company of so many brilliant and clever dancefloor scramblers and dear friends as I landed us in dawn's first light. I am deeply grateful for this experience, and excited to share this transmission from the vortex.

Furtive live at System Activate 2025

SORRYMIX returns with a special live mix from our friend Pacer (@pacertest)! Recorded back in January for our monthly Bossa Nova Civic Club residency, SORRYMIX41 is a beautifully executed opening set from Ahmad (aka Pacer) for Tony G’s Takeover night alongside sets from Club Chow and Sorry founders Nick Boyd and Tony.

I love opening a party and setting the tone for what’s to come. You never know what energy you’re going to get from a crowd so early in night and with this being my first time playing Bossa, I didn’t know what to expect on a Sunday but I couldn’t have asked for a better dance floor. This is easily one of my favorite sets I’ve played and truly encompasses the Pacer sound: house, techno, dub, 80s remixes & new wave edits. Wild to think that it’s been nearly a year since this party happened, stoked to finally have this recording from such a special night out in the world. Shout out to Sorry Records for having me on this great lineup and releasing this mix.

A blessed transmission from our dear friend from London Sam PV (@sam_pv)! A stunning opening set for our friends in Pittsburgh recorded live at the new Hot Mass location. 

𝙎𝙤𝙢𝙚 𝙩𝙝𝙤𝙪𝙜𝙝𝙩𝙨 𝙤𝙣 𝙩𝙝𝙞𝙨 𝙨𝙚𝙩 𝙛𝙧𝙤𝙢 𝙎𝙖𝙢...
This is a recording of my three hour set, opening for Nono Gigsta at Humanaut at Hot Mass in Pittsburgh. Hot Mass looms large in the mythology of the North American queer underground and i’d heard countless stories from friends who’d both played and danced there. Tragically, I never got to experience the old location but I can say for certain that the new spot is surely up there with the best clubs in the world. 

Nono is also one of my absolute favourite DJs, and was embarking on her ‘first and only’ US tour, so to say this was an important gig for me is something of an understatement. As a promoter, dancer and DJ I place great importance on the art of good a warm up set and I wanted to set it up so that Nono felt comfortable to let her most mercurial and unpredictable instincts fly. 

The end result was a journey through genres and eras, starting at 100 bpm and ending at 135, with a focus on drawing out shared sonic connections through disparate sounds with a common grounding in bass weight. And some contractually obligated UKG - shout out Jack!
