Hot on the heels of AXXE's amazing Emerald & Doreen debut EP, we are celebrating with a 2 fresh cuts of remixes. Fist comes the Greek God Of Disco - Dim Zach followed by Munich Disco Machine Silverella in two weeks.


Like the band's namesake, vintage budget monophonic synthesizer ARP AXXE, the Montreal-Stockholm electronic music trio prove that small, simple and straightforward can be exciting.

A curious amalgam of conflicting personalities, they put aside their differences to put their contemporary spin on the glittery dance pop of the 70s and 80s.

The band's latest release, That's Enough 4 Now b/w Heart of Cold was mixed and mastered by Auke Riemersma at MassiveMusic (Netherlands). 

Inspired by decreasing the amount of screen time brought on by the global pandemic, AXXE reacquainted themselves with acoustic instruments and live playing. The result: tight, song-oriented indie pop tracks that groove in the spirit of Róisín Murphy and Chromatics. But they haven't forgotten their club origins: remixes courtesy of Montreal's Fuentes (Dream Culture, Where The Heart Is).

AXXE previously had releases on NYLO Music (Spain), On The Fruit Records (France) and Mile End Records (Canada), which feature collaborations with internationally renowned talent such as Blond:ish (Kompakt, Get Physical).

Achievements include its Young Lovers Never Die EP (NYLO Music) reaching the 3rd spot on Beatport's Indie Dance/Nu Disco releases chart and the 27th spot overall. The release was also selected to Traxsource Essentials (July 2018).

As well, the Neon Workout remix of S.A.T.U.R.D.A.Y. Night (Mile End Records) was selected as the track of the month by global luxury brand Hugo Boss' August 2010 edition of HUGO Tracks. Previous honourees include acts Ali Love and Acid Washed.

AXXE has appeared on a number of compilations, notably Young Lovers Never Die (La Belle Époque Remix) on NYLO Music's Deep & Chilled Desires 2 (mixed by mixed by Alex Morais) and Sweet Stuff (Ride The Universe Remix) on Kiez Beats' Disco 2021 (alongside Louis La Roche and Anoraak).

Studiodue Future - Mixed by I-Robots

Italian artists I-Robots and Lorenzo LSP have put together two new mixes inspired by the legendary Turin club Studiodue, at which they were residents back in the 80s. The mixes feature an array of timeless deeptechno and eclectic electronic sounds from I-Robots' Opilec Music label, as well as one of his new and exclusive remixes.  Gianluca Pandullo, aka I-Robots, was a resident at the club - formerly a vintage cinema - from the late 80s until 1993 when it closed forever. At that time, Lorenzo LSP was also a DJ and one of the key party promoters. The club first opened in 1979 and soon became internationally renowned for its club nights, live concerts and events. It had a proudly eclectic sound that took in everything from disco, new wave, rare groove, acid, new beat and house to rock, hip hop, acid jazz, reggae, ska and dub.

The club was a foundational space for many in the city, championing black music and providing a safe space for people from the LGBTQ+ community. As a result, Studiodue became home to many vital promotions such as Lorenzo LSP (Latin Superb Posse)’s PopPlanet, House Train, Double Face and the I-Robots’ Sound Of Blackness Thursday. Over the years, many international stars visited, such as Ice-T, Todd Terry, Paul Weller, Frankie Knuckles,DJ Cash Money, Norman Jay, Pete Heller & Terry Farley, David Morales, Desmond Dekker and many more.

Studiodue helped shape several artists, including Lorenzo LSP and I-Robots, which is why the latter conceived this project and his Opilec Music label to mix up past and present influences and take them into the “Future”. 

The mix from I-Robots starts with an exclusive track that features an Italian vocal version of Kraftwerk’s ‘The Robots’ remade by Straker Commander and featuring Johnson Righeira. It’s a retro-future gem with glistening melodies and rugged arps and opens the release in authentic style. From there, the ensuing two hours take in raw analogue house, deep and soulful techno rollers, sleek minimal tracks, and percussive grooves packed with a Latin flair as well as so much more. It is a mix that very much joins the dots between then and now with music from Rhythim is Rhythim, Radio Slave, Kuniyuki Takahashi, Jordan Fields, Lello B., Danny Ocean, Federico Gandin and many more.

These two mixes are a perfect homage to one of Italy's most vital but sorely missed clubs.

Roam alumni Silicodisco returns with Spanish compatriot Xácome to bring forth their Estas Loco EP. All tracks drive a strong psychedelic post wave sound forward starting with Rusty Grass - a gritty yet dreamy offering. The title track Estas Loco continues with the stripped down 80s synth themes found throughout the EP. Mind Panic fits in perfectly taking the vibe further with its rolling bass and ethereal soundscapes. Rounding out the EP is an excellent in-the-pocket remix from Chinaski.

Hummingbird by BPZ is a deep and techy label with an eclectic sound that focuses on forward-thinking music and its latest release is an album from Future Legend aka Andres Bucci.
Appropriately named, Future Legend is an emerging talent whose eclectic style ranges from deep techno to experimental electronica, plus everything in between.
Although it's a relatively new alias, Future Legend is actually the new moniker of established artist Andres Bucci who has previously released music on the likes of Dinky’s Horizontal, Mike Shannon's Cynosure Recordings, Pier Bucci’s Maruca, and collaborated on an album with Kate Simko that was released by Traum Music.
Whether it's trippy synths or chunky breakbeats, Future Legend's focus is always on the finer details and this album expresses the full range of his sound.
Future Legend's output has been exclusive to Hummingbird by BPZ and this eight-track release is a storytelling work of art that progresses from the ambient intro toward a dance-floor friendly ending. Our choice from this LP "Future Fake" track brings a dystopian vibe with moody synths and ominous atmosphere.
