He may not be a familiar name to you yet Dim Zach is a rare occurence: a charismatic, talented DJ turned prolific producer and songwriter who, having imposed himself through sheer talent and hard work, has become ubiquitous in his country, Greece. A shift many dream of, although few achieve as successfully. And for good reason, blessed with a mission (real name) Dimosthenis Zachariadis rarely fails to generate feelgood emotions, beaming up listeners to the dancefloor of an imaginary Mediterranean nightclub of his own hedonist creation.

A self-confessed work-alcoholic with a relentless output, this multitasker juggles as many projects as he can lay his hands on: remixing new artists as well as old hits, releasing on plethora of major and independent labels, having in time proved himself as seasoned songwriter and live artist in his own right - he's behind electro pop band Liebe with vocalist/guitarist George (three albums to date including, the last, 'Revolution of Love' on Emerald & Doreen). Notwithstanding this punitive studio schedule still allows him to deejay in clubs and host a couple of weekly radio shows on popular stations (his sound does wonders on the airwaves).

It all starts with a deep passionate love for the tunes that make you dance, essentially the golden eras of 80s' funked-up electronic pop and 90s' classic house variations (which combined laid the foundations for today's widespread dance culture). Filling the gap between commercial and underground, Dim Zach opts blindly for a more visceral mantra: good music creates good vibes. A blueprint effortlessly managed on his brand new album gathering fresh compositions as well as remixes of Emerald & Doreen artists (noticeably The Sweeps for which he reworked a full 5-track EP!). 

Operating outside ephemeral trends and limiting tags, 'Ingredients of Love' digests many distinguished influences (Imagination, Aeroplane, Dubstar, 'Fade To Grey', 'La Serenissima' etc) yet always sounds like the work of his tasteful originator; accessible yet never dishonest, contrived nor stale. Alongside slick beats, rolling basslines, glittering percussive synthesisers and cascades of swirling catchy hooks, the ear-candy melodies on offer, sometimes deliciously naive, are always heartfelt and generous, transcending categorisations and time. The latest release from Tash's Movement Recordings finds Lastraw and Nine Collins returning to the label for their debut EP. The former has enjoyed a near decade long career as a producer, showcasing his techno sounds via Exotic Refreshment, Rhythmetic Records and Us and Them Records. Meanwhile, Nine Collins has enjoyed similar success as a DJ, playing some of Greece's trendiest venues such as Tokyo City Bar, Club Division and The Real Rock n Rolla. With a contribution to the Movement Recordings 'Technical Progress' Vol. 11 collection and the Her Kind' EP for label affiliate Astral Records both landing earlier this year, Lastraw and Nine Collins now return to Movement with Wonder Mind', alongside a remix from Circle of Life.

The duo's keen sense for the dance floor continues with the final selection Lost Generation'. Led by a warm yet punchy groove, it's charged rhythms and mystical atmospheres unite for a captivating storyboard. Driving and energetic, astral motifs and mounds of pulsating bass delight across the first act, as whimsical motifs add depth and space leading into the main break. Ethereal and cosmic throughout the interlude, it's flair for the dramatic continues to rise with a trail of sonic artefacts and cinematic pads sparking an understated apex and charged finale.

The release concludes with Circle of Life returning to the label and providing the lone interpretation of Lost Generation'. The Serbian artist made his label debut in 2019 with the well-received 'Black Light' EP. The next calendar year would see Circle of Life forge a strong bond with the label, delivering three originals and a remix across three excellent releases. Also finding a home on Beat Boutique, BeatFreak Recordings, Suara and Sudbeat Music, Circle of Life now returns to Movement Recordings with a deadly remix of Lost Generation'. Electrically charged with buoyant beats and a shapelier take on the groove, it's buzzing energy beams brightly from the outset. Combining robust rhythms with striking electronics and a dazzling array of drums makes for a hugely exhilarating first act. Segueing into emotive territory, the main break melts down to a glow of impassioned chord stabs and fluttery sonics, as frayed percussion and poignant key changes rise towards a groovy finale. A brilliant remix from Circle of Life which rounds out a superb debut EP for Lastraw and Nine Collins. Highly recommended.

When Kusht decided to leave Scotland and explore the world he had no idea of all the great wonders that would come to him, Vardo is his Ode to travel and feels it will touch others who have also chosen a life of movement. A Vardo is a Romani Wagon or most commonly knows as a Gypsy Wagon, the opening Edit on the LP is that of an old Gypsy Love song "Ketri Ketri". Making an entrance "West" shows his want to travel to Latin America and spend time with the countless influences from over the pond. We then take an adventure with "Zorio's Blackbird" flying its way to the top of the mountain where we meet the crazy collaboration between Kusht and his father R Gold with this Acoustic Cowbell Onomatopoeia showdown "Twangklang". Finally we retreat into the arms of "Tarzan" who shows us there can be the strongest of love between two strangers. 

Kusht takes inspiration from all over the world especially Africa and Latin America, he ties them to the sounds of the cold north and his Celtic roots to create a harmonious fusion of cultures. Vardo is organic and soft yet with some room rumbling moments, this is one to enjoy a hot cup of tea on a cold morning sunrise. ​​​​​​​​​​

Now Dim Zach, the Greek Disco god and The Sweeps,  luminous synthpop heroes from Hamburg, Germany return in a stunning collaboration with fresh interpretations from The Sweeps' recent album 'Arcade of Dreams' as well as to brand new co-productions 'Come Back' & 'Ordinary Day'
