It is tenderly made with the greatest respect for the original and we hope you will like it as much as we do. A great tune for fans of John Talabot and The XX ;). Early 90’s, born & raised to David Bowie & Talking Heads music Did Virgo was ready to stumble upon House & Techno Music.
Embarking on a trip from London to Chicago & Detroit, the 30 years old boy got access to Marseille’s 1st electronic club control desk as a destination.
Techno & House Music were still a sub-culture in the making and Did Virgo wanted to share the love not only by djing but also by opening a bar, broadcasting a radio show & promoting events in his hometown.
Y2K was the time to make it complete by running a label « Pornflake » & starting
producing music with a friend. The boys got the chance to remix « Troublemakers » and to release a few EPs on an English label…. Did Virgo was ready to start to produce music on his own and he started another label called virgo music with his soulmate Paul Virgo.
2010, « La dame Noir » opens a bar in Marseille, this place is devoted to slow tempo & the dark side of disco music, Did Virgo is attracted.
The bar evolves in a club, he takes a residency, the club evolves into a label and Did Virgo find a natural home to release his music. And from there, the story evolved...here is his spæcial mix!

DEEPER TONG: SPÆCIAL MIX 422

Berlin-based synth-wave band Dina Summer released their highly anticipated second album 'Girls Gang' earlier this year via Iptamenos Discos. The super band which is formed by Kalipo (also known for his work with electro-punk band Frittenbude) and dark disco DJ/producer duo Local Suicide first made waves in the scene with their 2021 EP ‚Who Am I‘ before releasing their critically acclaimed 2022 debut album ‚Rimini‘ and 2024 EP ‘Hide & Seek’. They also contributed to Curses’ ‘Next Wave Acid Punx‘ compilation, participated in Purple Mag x radiooooo’s '2070' project, and performed at Reeperbahn Festival's prestigious ‘Collide Session’.

The new album is a versatile collection of 11 tracks that delve into themes such as empowerment, outsiderhood, impermanence, nostalgia, and relationships. While their debut album was characterized by its club-centric sound, drawing from italo disco and '90s electro influences, this new release explores a richer palette of new wave, post punk, and synth pop. The sophomore longplayer is more song-oriented, often featuring real bass and guitar, and showcases a more vocal-driven performance from frontwoman Dina, incorporating more singing alongside her trademark spoken words. Yet, it retains the same catchy melodies Dina Summer is known for, offering both indie pop hymns and a few undeniable club anthems.

After recently releasing a bunch of remixes by DJ Hell, Damon Jee, Phunkadelica, The Populists, Karassimeon, Boys’ Shorts, Karla Lynch, Moderna, The World Domination, & Etane the trio is now back with even more reworks by befriended artists Joyce Muniz, Stockholm Syndrome, IBÄ, Nici Palm & JG Outsider!

The uprising Leipzig-based DJ, producer and party curator Nici Palm chops up & re-arranges the vocals from ’No More Tears’ and adds a tech groove and multiple rich synth layers to create an ode of female empowerment.

As if ‘Black Hole’ was some kind of dark space movie from the past –  Kid Machine’s Retro-Italo-Electro style delivers a film score-esque remix. ‘The Robot Scientists’ enter the Black hole only to find a near deserted, lonely secret world. Kid Machine used the melodies from the vocal chorus and replaced some parts with eerie, robotic vocoders to deliver a sense of ‘no escape’ and ‘no return’.

"Funky Skunky" is a track originally composed in 1996
but completely re-made a few monthes ago. . The original track, made
with MIDI system and virtual synths, was based on a vocal sample taken
from one of the first vynil collections of acappella voices but it sounded
weak and not convincing enough. Therefore it was abandoned and slept
on a forgotten CD-Rom for about 16 years. Robotnick, using analog
synths and triggers, brings it back to life with the energy it deserves. 122 bpm
"Infinite Solitude" is a track that was originally composed
in 2001 for "Oh no ..Robotnick" but then discarded because deemed
to sound too melancholic. In this case too, the recent analog re-writing
gives the track a vintage flavour and rightly puts it back into the
authour's original music process. 128 bpm
"It was like a dream" is more recent, dating back to 2008
but it sounds as if it came out of one of Robotnick's early 80s tapes,
when the author insisted in working out sounds and atmospheres
that would distinguish his style from the music produced in those
days. 124 bpm Finally there are 2 remixes of "Can you hear me?" , a
track released in Archives 2 , signed by young producers from the
"New Disco" scene : "Things happen" and "The Robot Scientists"
present the continuity of a sound that comes from far away but is still
capable of attracting and involving the new generations.
