Shortly before the summer break: get ready for one of our favorite releases so far this year on Emerald & Doreen! Tulioxi’s „Bring the Funk to the Punk” is an immense tune for all these upcoming hot summer nights. This masterpiece definitely has the potential to become one of the singles of the year. A catchy phrase, a driving acidic synth bassline, moody Balearic pads – you can literally see the hands going up in the air on all the dancefloors of the Earth! But THAT is not everything, ooooohhhh nooooo! ALDA adds some superdry and funky synth bass and hard-hitting drums to turn it into a new wave electro disco classic that leaves you standing on the dancefloor with your mouth wide open and eyes shut to feel and cope with the immense purifying pressure coming from the speakers. CABARET NOCTURNE turns the lights off and lets the punk’s silhouette appear slowly in the foggy strobelight before he starts an amazing slo-mo-dance. CANNIBAL INK “Bring the Funk To The Punk” with an electro-funky breakbeat, a lot of atmosphere and kicking hihats, PAND3LESCU decides to put drama and phatness first and adds a cool Western guitar to the cosmic feel of his mix – what a set of remixes!
On top, Tulioxi delivers a second fantastic cosmic Balearic disco track “Some Kind of Man” – the original is “rolling” and perfect for sipping cocktails when the sun is setting. And last but not least, this beauty gets an wonderfully smooth, spaced out & funky treatment with an amazing build-up by PIN UP CLUB!

We've had our eyes and ears on Cabaret Nocturne for sometime now, with a sound that is deeply influenced by the early 80's Italo Disco and New Beat sound. Across the three original tracks on the EP his music touches on synth pop keys, melancholic Italo waves and dark bass lines.

Two key players in the Join Our Club family round off the EP on remix duties. Justin Robertson in his Deadstock 33’s guise pulls out an absolute blinder with a where the f%^k did that bassline come from. Last but by no means least XY-Me ups the tempo and strips thing back to bare a groove.

Now on its fourth edition, Futureboogie Recordings maintain their fine tradition of the ‘Summer Riot’ EPs, showcasing new music from new artists and FBR regulars, each cut laced with the good vibes designed to bring out some additional heat during these Summer months. 

Retrofit boss, Jay Shepheard, makes his debut on the label with ‘Henry’s Theme’.  Following on from his stellar catalogue for labels like Compost Records, Dirt Crew and Buzzin Fly, Jay delivers the goods fortified with infectious bass, deep chords and feel good factor X 100.

Family favourites, PBR Streetgang, return to the label with ‘Seul Baril’, pushing a more shadowy mood; mallet percussion playing out the melody over a heavy, reverberating bassline and climatic synths.

French artist, Art Of Tones, comes with an impressive track history with releases on F Comm (as Llorca), 2020 Vision and Local Talk, and is accompanied by Laetitia Dana on ‘Don’t Need No More’.  Live bass licks over a brooding production sets the tone for Laetitia’s awesome vocal performance on this impeccable number.   

Another seasoned FBR regular, Lukas, contributes ‘White Linen Suit’ to this V/A comp, a slick and sophisticated slab of sun-kissed Balearica.  Woodwind riffs, live bass and sliding guitar licks entangle is a highly musical and blissed out production.

‘Never Coming Back’ from Phil Gerus closes the EP, the meaty kick drum and dense claps come rolling at you with serious intent, a peak-time slammer with it’s looping vocal refrain and bare bones elements, reminiscent of some of the best dubs and tracks that the 90s managed to throw up.

Respected house producer Josh Butler is back, armed with his brand new ‘Link’ EP on Edwin Oosterwal and Joris Voorn’s legendary Rejected imprint. The EP once again proves Josh’s ability to continuously deliver the kind of high quality tech-house that has entrenched him as an integral figure in the underground UK house scene.

The title track ‘Link’ stays true to Butler’s less-is-more philosophy while also showcasing his incredible sound-design and production know-how. The percussion takes centre stage as Josh brings in conga rolls, a soulful vocal refrain and lush, atmospheric pads to contribute to an inimitable groove. Two distinct mixes of the track, a melodic mix and a dub mix, are generously provided on the EP and both demonstrate the intricacies inherent in Josh’s production.

Rounding off the release is ‘Need Me’, the EP’s deeper venture that combines minimalist instrumentation centred around a grooving bassline, subtly making itself known above the driving percussion. Throughout the EP, Josh succeeds in delivering vast symphonic landscapes within the pretext of measured and characteristic instrumental restraint.
