Anjuna Lounge 6

On Thursday 15th February I presented two hours of mixed music, ranging from kwaito and amapiano in the first hour to afro house in the second hour, at Anjuna Lounge in Stirchley, Birmingham.

Many of the tracks selected were produced by South African artists and all of them following the vibes of these South African led genres. These tracks wouldn't have come to fruition without the hard work and heart of South African musicians. Especially with these specific genres really taking off after apartheid was eradicated and people of all races were freely able to express themselves through music.

In the final 20 minutes I played five songs that were influential to those who battled against apartheid, they are:

Went to the new refurbished Farmfoods in Stirchley this morning, got inspired, and the rest of the day I spent making this mix!

Picked out some afro house, some melodic, some tunes from my last set at Anjuna Lounge Music and some other new finds as well as a couple of favourites and went for it.

Resident DJ at Anjuna Lounge in Stirchley, Birmingham for SATURDAY NIGHT MUSIC & our new project AFTER HOURS which kicks off on August 16th at the Hare & Hounds in Kings Heath.

I have recently played for ALTERED at The Dark Horse in Moseley and am chuffed to have been invited along for their next event at The Old Print Works in Balsall Heath on June 22nd.

I also present a once-a-month spot with my Thursday night project WORLD MUSIC NIGHTS showcasing electronic music sounds from a different country each time with Brazil being the most recent.

My regular recorded mix series BVL SESSIONS has been running for a little while which is something I record to put straight on here, often with a bit of a story behind each mix.

MY MUSIC FLAVOURS:

I play sounds across house and techno genres covering afro, melodic, tech & deep with a love for repetitive vocals, glitchy sounds, big breakdowns and dirty drops.
