The title track, a collaboration with Jody Wisternoff and label-boss James Grant, was premiered on Anjunadeep 14 in April this year. The EP sees the London-based producer skilfully combine playful melodies, catchy vocal samples and washed-out pads, all centred around driving 4x4 beats and deep, warm basslines.

Because of Art has previously released on Stress Records, Armada, and has been championed by the likes of Skream and Danny Howard, as well as collaborating with industry heavyweight Sasha. Since first meeting, Brighton-based songwriter Elle Limebear and instrumentalist-producer Cephas Azariah quickly found common ground in their artistic passions, developing a friendship and going on to collaborate across various musical avenues. 

A storyteller at heart, Elle’s music combines her commanding yet ethereal vocals throughout her songs, telling tales to accompany people on their journey through life’s highs and lows, whilst inspiring them to look beyond their current challenges. With over 175 million streams and a Billboard #1, Elle’s music has taken her across the world, accompanied by Cephas Azariah as part of her touring band. Here, their joint efforts during sound-checks began to effortlessly take shape, noticing their natural synergy and curiosity to merge their distinct worlds in a creative space, their new project came to life. 

Indian-born, British composer and producer Cephas Azariah returns to Reflections after a string of highly respected singles and EPs, including an ambient rework of Cubicolor's ‘Machine Keys’, from their debut LP on sister label Anjunadeep. Having scored music for Channel 4, PUMA, Soho House and soundtracked dozens of films, Cephas only began to reveal his own compositions in late 2021, embracing the paradox between traditional classical composition and his own cultural roots, he has amassed an outstanding 10 million streams to date.

Intended to soundtrack the everyday, ordinary and mundane moments of life, the pair utilise Elle’s voice as an instrument, exploring textures, range and gentle tones. Laid over the soft foundation of Cephas’ delicate, emotive compositions of twinkling pianos, synths and soaring strings, arranged to serve as a soundtrack and invite people to slow down, to embrace the beauty in our everyday moments.

Born from a desire to bring together many of our combined artists and supporters during ADE weekend in Amsterdam 2019, Emergent Shores, Synth Collective, and Soluna Music have come together to organise, for the first time, an event dedicated to the beautiful melodic progressive house we love: Progressive Unity.

The event will be hosted on 18th October at one of the city’s most unique venues: the amazing Hill Street Blues bar in the heart of Amsterdam. This historic event presents twelve of the scene’s most respected figures, DJing for the love of the wonderful music we all adore.

One of the main aims of this event is to give something back to our fans and supporters, by putting on a free night for them as an expression of our gratitude. Continuing this theme, we are very proud to collectively present “Progressive Unity” the EP. This beautiful trio of tracks (one put forth from each of our labels) come from three of the scene’s most prolific artists: Skua, Winterya, and Z8phyR. We bestow these gifts as a “thank you” for the  ongoing love and support from our fans and those who appreciate the electronic dance music scene.

If you're able to join us in Amsterdam, this is just a small sample of what’s to come. If you're unable to make it out, then we at least hope you will enjoy these three gorgeous pieces instead.  This is One Love. This is Progressive Unity!

Norwegian producer Astrevea returns to our imprint with a spectacular balearic progressive EP.

Astrevea welcomes listeners to an audible journey to the “Maldives.” Although located in the Arabian Sea of the Indian Ocean, the Balearic experience is no less celebrated on this equatorially balmy island. Beautiful arpeggiated chords and punchy grooves along the catchphrase side chain of a bassline will easily resonate within. “6 A.M.” continues the after party in the sweltering morning of the previous night’s outer experience in the Maldives. The chord progression and compositional arrangement gives Astrevea merit in his skill in music production.

Onedotsixtwo continues to showcase the finest rising global talent in 2020 by welcoming those Argentine masters of groove and emotion, Oliver & Tom back to the label for their debut ‘Penny’ EP release, having previously been introduced to the onedotsixtwo audience via their contribution to Gustin’s excellent ‘Synchronicity’ (ODST0019) mix comp. Another super-talented Argentine DJ/Producer, Nico Szabo, provides an excellent remix of ‘Penny’ to complete this outstanding package.

The title track is a pulsating beauty, its futuristic melodic mastery conjuring up images of an electronic past signposted by the likes of Giorgio Moroder and Kraftwerk, which Oliver & Tom then uniquely re-imagine for the future in a proper progressive musical framework. The duo’s skilled musicianship sets them apart from the crowd, a symbiosis that originated in their childhood, having grown up together playing guitar and drums, followed by studying piano and synthesizer. 

Their highly impressive musical and studio skills first caught the attention of Nick Warren’s The Soundgarden in 2017 and their career trajectory has continued upwards ever since. Already busy through 2020, their releases have previously appeared on Tarnished Tracks, Balkan Connection, Vested Recordings and Massive Harmony. But, never ones to rest on their creative laurels, it is ‘Penny’ along with the perfectly complimentary, heavenly melodic wonderment of ‘Till Sunrise’ that are perhaps their finest works yet. 

Nico Szabo is another prodigious young talent emanating from Buenos Aires whose ever-growing array of remixes, on the likes of Clinique, 3rd Avenue and Balkan Connection, have been turning heads already throughout the first half of 2020. Another talented musician, having studied guitar and electric bass from the age of 12, Nico’s studio skills are now focused on producing the finest proper progressive house music. Here he takes ‘Penny’ on a deeper journey, sprinkling his arrangement with beautiful melodies and locking everything down to perfection with a super-tight groove.
