Context:

It is midnight in Delver. The king’s armies assemble within the Golden Castle. The summer night breathes its stifling heat, while the moon stands on watch—unaware of the horror about to unfold. Clad in the armor of the state and wielding the sword of madness, the command is given.

At first it resembles a parade of grandeur, but in secret, the famed Belliants—the kingdom’s sworn protectors—begin a blood hunt against all mages. What seemed like a battle against a deadly invader is nothing but a pestilent wrath, spreading through them and driving them mad like rabid hounds.

Suddenly, without giving their victims any chance to defend themselves, they storm into the mages’ homes and slaughter them. Few will live through this death march.

In the Name of the King is a song that depicts the beginning of the inquisition against the mages. The Golden City, once the stage and seat of wisdom so revered by the nobles, was delivered to a wave of madness caused by the folly of the King of Berania. Although the monarch was under the effects of magic and the influence of a power-hungry mage, all the other kings were not. In the Name of the King is the epic of the march of insanity, parading and crushing reason and common sense — all in the name of a king: hatred."

In Name Of The King

Hey everyone! My name is Emerson Marçal. I’m not a professional musician, but I’ve always loved soundtracks, they’ve been my passion since forever. I play a bit of keyboard and started messing around with some compositions a long time ago, on my first keyboard, a Roland Prelude. That was about 14 years ago! Actually, those old songs are still here on SoundCloud, in a playlist I kept.

Nowadays, I’ve decided to create a few new soundtracks, but it’s all very simple, just to bring some emotion to a story I’m writing together with my friend Rafael R. Oliveira on the Inkspired platform. The book is called Aequus, and it’s a huge saga we’re building together. It’s a long-term project, probably more than 5 years of work. The links to the story are in the description of each song.

Some tracks have small audiobook excerpts, with dialogues and monologues from the story’s characters. But there are also versions without audiobook, for those who prefer to listen to just the music, no narration. However, these audiobook snippets are very short, just a small sample that doesn’t take over the entire track. Usually, they’re only at the beginning.

I really believe in this story and I’m trying to share it with anyone who might be interested. If you enjoy any of the songs, I invite you to check out the Aequus Saga, because these tracks exist because of it.
