Ishome - Eva

The "Landnamabok" is a book of the land takeover of the first settlers in Iceland in the 9th century. The surviving book is from the 11th century and inspired me, who has never been to Iceland, to create an imaginary audio saga. A saga of heroic actors who resisted the adversities of nature and began to colonise the country. After they had mastered the crossing, each met different circumstances and had to overcome different challenges. The album also describes the other side of the wild, warlike Vikings, who penetrated America in search of a rural land. At the same time, it is an attempt to describe the relationship between man and nature and how they have shaped each other.

I had opportunity for the realisation of the compositions when I stayed as a guest for a week with a friend near Cologne, Germany, in a romantic little valley. From there also come the bird voices of the track “fuglaheimili”. Naturally, the genre for such a saga was ambient, or the more rhythmic dub ambient. Genres are boxes that are supposed to make thinking easier, but they prevent us from discovering new things in the spaces between. Instead, go on voyages of discovery like the Vikings and discover your own land.

On a foggy night, the renowned magician Harry Keller strolled through the dimly lit streets, his silhouette barely discernible against the swirling mist. The air was thick with mystery, much like the illusions he crafted on stage. As he walked, the soft crunch of gravel underfoot was the only sound breaking the silence, punctuated by the occasional flicker of a streetlamp. Cloaked in his signature top hat and coat, he felt a kinship with the fog, both concealing and revealing in equal measure. With each step, he pondered the magic of the night, where reality blurred with the fantastical, and the secrets of his craft seemed to whisper from the shadows, inviting him to conjure wonders anew.

[FSLAB012] Ishome - Confession

Hooray! A long-awaited debut album by Russia-based young girl-artist Ishome.
"Confession" - that's the name, post-everything-tronic - that's the style. She cuts, slices, play, programs and mixes it all together by herself making a soothing mixture of complex broken beats, ambient atmos, quirky pop vocals and ground moving grooves.
Mirabella Ishome Kiryanova lives here and there from time to time - from South Bounds to Siberia. Being pretty young she's already done a huge job - released on Proton Music US, won a national contest by Russia's one of the biggest web-zines Look At Me "10 Top Young Producers", played on Stereoleto SPb and EXIT fests, was remixed by D/R/U/G/S an many-many more.
She constantly plays live acts across the country BTW and it's pretty amazing how this young artful dodger creates an insane twist all over the dance floor every time she's conducting it.
So in "Confession" we see Ishome in her best. With loads of quotations from different genres and subs she keep a firm paw on her sounding so you could easily know - who's that. Yes, nothing special in this fact but it's quite interesting for a 20-yo girl to have such a strong hand and vibe. 9 tunes - from ambient to old-school driven breakbeat, 2-step-smth, atmo-grime, techno and back.
Well, all in all it might be the main album for us at least in 2013. And it speaks for itself!
