The GET DOWN NYC - DJ Set

I sincerely apologies to the singer whos name I didn't save or remember. This was a collaboration between this lady and myself over the (now shut down) website Allihoopa, this is why I can't retrieve the information. I made the beat with her guitar sample and I gave her a little rebuttal in rap form. It's not the tightest verse I've recorded, I had just written it and recorded it on the spot but anyway, I liked it for what it was, or ehm... is.

I wrote this track a couple of years ago when my kid, oh yeah, back when there was only one of them... when he was a toddler. Just a story about everyday life as a stay at home dad. Back when I used to make music on a regular basis I'd always make a beta version first, like a rough sketch and test run to learn the lyrics better and see what it feels like after a few listens. So this was just recorded on the laptop with Apple's headphones.

Lyrics:

Stuck in a grievance with the creature made of my semen. 
Shouting like a heathen from the top of a hill like heman.
Caught in duo rolls, society calls me a she man. 
But see man, this ain’t the 1900 and I’m not leaning.

Feeding myself as I’m pleading with my captor.
Trying to convince my son I’m a crazy velociraptor.
I rap on any track, I used to DJ with Traktor.
Now I wrap diapers, talking to Pokemons that I capture.

Trying to rap with cartoons playing in the background
Mother goose club beat story bots and I look like a sad clown. 
But with this kid it’s impossible to hold a  sad frown.
I’m like puddy in his hands and I surrender with my hands down.

These bars are medication but they’re psychopsomatic,
I realise I’m babbling like a psycho addict.
It’s not like I’m some kind of weirdo with psycho habits. 
But sleep deprivation can make you see all kinds of rabbits. 

I keep misplacing things even though I just had it.
I put my keys in the highest place out of old habit.
If not I’ll never see them because I know that he’ll grab it.
My kid’s a savage, and more clepto than average. 

I’m getting dizzy, spinning into a spiral trap
Getting woken up at 5 am is just as fun as a spinal tap.
I practice righteousness, but without the bible crap.
I crack on consciousness, right after my title track. 

I make up for lack of sleep, with tiny naps when I blink.
I look like a creep, can’t carry sentences or think
Can’t remember last time I showered and now I stink.
But family life is sweet, I just need a drink and a shrink.

I used to battle rappers, now I babble nonsense,
I battle daycare sickness, immun defence on the offence,
Don’t get close to me, I get paranoid if you’re coughing,
Shoulders so tense, I should get massages more often.

But wifey is working, while I’m at home twerking
Shaking ass to reggaeton with a toddler and a gurkin
Pasta on the menu, a burger is a certain, 
and ice cream and burbon while I hide behind the curtain.

My head hurts, cuz my kid went all bizzirk,
The wound on my forehead is his work. It's his world.
Foolishly I expected a meal without an accident.
Now the table looks like underwear after a laxative. 

I like a clean house, but I value sanity.
Things are scattered everywhere like fluctuating gravity.
I got a maid and 4 hands but this is savagery.
I don’t need a hand, I need a whole god damn cavalry.

I’d love to go a day without any shit or snot.
Parenting is fun even though I know I bitch a lot
It’s mostly amazing, but my eyelids twitch a lot.
I try to clean in sections, I just need to pick a spot.


I’m a stay at home dad, a play alone dad,.
Im trying to be as good as the one I wish I had.
I don’t mean to complain and I know it sounds insane,
Some days I lose my brain, but I chose this all the same.
