Pushin' Against a Stone

In the reference number 6 of the MOAI Techno Live Set label we find Korean underground producers Bagagee Viphex13 and Pierre Blanche have collaborated a lot and worked together to create a stronger and faster techno album. Inspired by Back to Future movies, these three pure techno tracks are impeccable, raw and aggressive.

If they produced a epic and cosmic club sound in the previous work,
In this time,  they made a pure track with repetitive sounds, addictive rhythms, and minimal break parts.

Meticulously designed synth sounds, the use of samples all three have heard and picked, and mixed and mastered using analog studio equipment, these three techno tracks are ready to turn the club dance floor upside down.

Ethereal Future is an EP with three tracks created by V.A (Furkan Cinar, Mëi and Gueva) for Awen Tales. The first track is Furkan Cinar feat Damla Eker- Closed Eyes. Furkan Cinar is a DJ/Producer from Istanbul. He was born in Istanbul, in 1996. His style is distinguishing due to intense atmospheric and energetic techno sounds, deep and harmonic vibes.

The track begins resounding and sure maintained with a deep and femenine voice, the sound beats alive and continuous throughout the song. With an intense atmospheric and energetic techno sounds, deep and harmonic vibes with a lovely vocal sound.

The second one is Mëi Ft. Verona - Through My Eyes. Mëi was born in Argentina and based in Sydney, Australia. With an eclectic profile, he swims across different sounds to drive you through many journeys, heavy percussions, groovy bass lines combined with melodic vibes blend together with minimal elements, emotional pads and ambient atmospheres to give the result of his signature sound. He gets inspired from classical music, cinema and 80´s music.
Had supported big artists such as Rafael Cerato, Made in Paris, Ejeca, Kobosil, Loco and Jam, etc.

The track begins with waves of beats, the voice reminiscent of an angelic mermaid across the ocean. Because it sounds inviting and generates an acoustic environment by itself. Enhanced by a surround sound. The extensive knowledge of classical music is perfectly reflected in the track. The track is an internal journey through dance-able vibes and deep vocals.

The third one is: Gueva - Cuore Spezzato. Matias Guevara AKA Gueva is a 22-year-old young man originating in Buenos Aires, Argentina. As a boy, he discovered his passion for music by introducing himself into the world of Hip-Hop. At 19 years of age he discovers his true love for electronic music, that's when he decides to take musical production classes.Without being encased in a specific genre but with clear influences in the Melodic House And Techno and Indie Dance/Dark Disco…Using music as a catharsis when playing and producing generates different nuances in its listeners. Gueva is in the GAP between love and hatred, anger and peace, light and darkness.

The track can remind you of the feeling that a person can have during a romantic break. The position of the lyrics in the track increases the intensity of that feeling as well as the ups and downs of rhythm.

This song, Half-Crazy, could be described as the tenacious offspring of the North African desert music of Mali/Morocco and the sweat and electricity of the Chicago and Mississippi Delta blues. That music is like a stem-cell, really open to going in many directions. On this track, we wired the harp through a dirty little amplifier. I played my early 40's Oahu lap-steel. Andrew uses a loping high-hat feel, and the electric bass pushes the whole thing. The lyrics got a nudge from our friend Nathan Moore--we're all half-crazy, half clear as a bell.

It is with great pleasure that we welcome Wenonoah to our ever-branching nest. She is totally unique; raw honesty channelled into pop, both from the chamber and the field. Her songs flow from the inside out. Sometimes dark, sometimes peaceful…sometimes funny but always essential. 

‘Insides: Something Funny I Ate’, first released last year, is a collection of songs that explore change and desire, transformation and stagnation. Embodiment, survival, asking what divides and what makes one of many. It is an album swaddled in understated majesty, and as soon as we’d been taken into her world we didn’t want to leave; so we’ve invited her into our own as a thank-you. 

We kicked 2015 off with New Year / New Noise 2 at the Arnolfini and to many, Wenonoah was the act that they couldn’t forget. All eyes on the lone figure behind a keyboard, standing still but channelling an energy that stunned a room. Much more of that to come.

Might As Well Be Said / Hungerford Poem

Spend a typical day on Wilder Street and you will observe the drug dealers on the corner (jovial, confident and territorial). A few doors along there is a homeless shelter. Most nights a small crowd gather outside (noisy, drunk, high and aggressive) and quite often they argue amongst themselves but sometimes they sing.
Wilder Street is an edgy changeable environment though often surprisingly comical. The music in this piece is representative of the dark yet lively scene.
The piece was performed by the excellent 'Tippett Quartet' in December 2011 at the University of London - Senate room.
