From a small town in Cornwall, Ed Cook is an acoustic singer/songwriter that offers a peaceful and intimate sound for his listeners. After developing his melodic finger picking techniques and soothing vocals in the Cornish countryside, he set his sights on moving to the bright lights of Bristol and the thriving music scene that surrounds it. This easy-listening folky sound mixed with softly spoken and emotional vocals lets Ed become one with his audience and leaves their imagination open. 

New single ‘Mother Said’ is due for release 28th August. The Rupees interweave themes of fate and choice along with regret and optimism in their rousing and anthemic new single. The indie ballad captures worldly  wisdom between a mother and son, 'Your life is never in control, but life will never let you know'. 

We’re raw, aggressive and honest. Fighting our way out and up our principles are simple; be yourself, be distinctive and be passionate. Our songs are personal but remain universal and often shake the space between ideas of  fate and choice, optimism and reality, always big, always anthemic. 

The Rupees and their music has been showcased on BBC Radio 1 (Huw Stephens), BBC Radio 6 (Steve Lamacq), and Sky Sports (Soccer AM). Having played Reading Festival, Glastonbury and Bristol Harbourfest, supporting bands such as Blossoms and The Growlers and selling out numerous headline shows, The Rupees are making a serious racket that is becoming hard to ignore. Having just completed their latest tour they have also just left the studio and their arsenal is full with four singles ready to attack the UK public in 2020 and with further studio time planned it seems the assault is set to continue.
