Sofa Beats presents THE BITZPAN, a downtempo / electronica music project from Athens, Greece, by artists Panos Nikolaou and Yannis Bitzanis. They use a mixed technique of digital - analog equipment to create their own personal sound of various soundscapes, atmospheres and downtempo musical designs. Overlapping downtempo gender offers the audience a wide musical odyssey, from chilled to ecstatic grooves. It's a deeper plunge into the raw analog sound synthesis, an exploration of instruments and technics dialoguing harmonically with each other, an understanding of the physics of sound and a try to blend it. The Bitzpan duo combines several times classic psychedelic and techno elements with mid tempo grooves, analog drums, rhythmic basses, trippy modular melodies and organic instrument layers. The journey into electronic music production began back in 2002 and never stopped ever since. This set contains tracks from The Bitzpan's upcoming release as well.

Trancemas at Sly Grog, performed from midnight to 2am on 12-27-2024.  It was a fun event and my first time playing Sly Grog since they reopened after the fire, and my first set after Tropical Storm Helene.  Asheville is resilient and people are dancing through  the trauma.

A journey where brutality meets the sublime. A pounding, mechanical rhythm grinds forward like steel under pressure, while ghostly bell-like tones echo through the mix — reminiscent of a horror film’s haunting chime. Layered dark chorus textures drift in and out, creating a spectral presence that feels both sacred and menacing. The soundscape is ethereal yet oppressive, as if ritual and machinery collided in a cathedral of shadows.
