In the Christian world to which we belong, the Advent season has begun and there has even been a bit of snow in some places, just like in our city. The Christmas season is perhaps also a good time to say thank you. We were lucky enough to grow up in families who looked after us and did everything they could to make us happy. Unfortunately, that's not always the case. Sometimes you only remember to say thank you when someone falls seriously ill or dies and you realize what that person has done for you. One day it may be too late to say thank you- nobody lives forever. This song is a big thank you to our parents and families. In this sense, it is also our contribution to the Christmas season, even if it is not a real Christmas song. We wish everyone a Merry Christmas time, including of course those who do not belong to the Christian world.

they stole four antique cannons from the castle
hijacked a truckload of metal from the factory
they stole a jet engine from the old air force base
the mad captain nodded satisfactorily

they welded the metal into a battering ram
and the big jet engine was for extra speed
cannons armed in every direction
the mad captain had returned to the sea (x2)

they were a terror in the open waters
they’d sink any ship that they saw
and with their jet engine, they were able to avoid apprehension
and stay a step ahead of the law

The English saying "We're all going to Hell in a hand-cart" just about describes my mood when I wrote "Descent". It was one of those weeks in northern hemisphere Spring 2024 when there was absolutely no good news coming in from anywhere on the planet.

I trust that things will get better!

The drum percussion sound, because I didnt have a kit back then, was created by using crusty old paint brushes on a textured vinyl album cover. If I recall, it was the Eagles greatest hits. Where theres a will, theres a way.......
